We awoke to a sunny, crisp Winnipeg somnolently marking the final day of the Labor day weekend (yes, they actually do have labor in Canada). We got an early start through the deserted streets. We gassed up at a station that featured a young man who came out and put the gas in the tank. (He didn't, however, do the windshield and check the oil.)

... to say then, but it not we'll hopefully add another entry when we reach Osaka tonight, assuming we can find Wi-Fi. We only brought the iPad and last time I was in Japan, their wireless network was not great. Mostly they still use LAN lines for Internet.
Our plane boards in 30 mins, so so long for now.

It's such a clean city, and we were impressed by the roads lined with beautiful Dutch Elm trees. Janice was telling us that the Dutch Elm disease has just arrived in the city, and measures are being taken to reduce the damage of the disease. We saw sticky tape about 10 feet up each tree, probably something like tanglefoot we sometimes use on our fruit trees.
