Finally! - got enough of a break in the Wx to get out of Versailles, MO. It was so frustrating sitting there watching the weather radar that showed clear conditions 15 miles west of me. I thought about trying to taxi the airplane down the road toward the good Wx, because there was no way to fly with the low ceilings and rain ;-)
I took off around 14:40 and couldn't get above 900 ft for the first 10 miles. The cloud deck gradually elevated ...
... and Grandpa as we left. We headed back to the coach, hooked it up, and headed down the road.
Our first stop is Lincoln, NE for the night. We got to the campground just in the knick of time as there were a number of thunderstorms in the area. Sounds like there will be some heavy weather in the area during the night. It should be interesting.

- They are typically boringly straight
- Competition is fierce
- You gotta keep the hammer down all the time
- Nebraska Interstates are pre cast concrete so there is an expansion bump every 30' or so, gets tiring in a hurry
This trip seemed to be doomed from the start. Julie started planning 4 years ago with a student tour company as an "adult" trip. It was postponed 2 years ago and finally cancelled this year when the number of required travelers couldn't be met. But for us travelers that were left out in the cold, it was decided that the "show must go on!" ...
