Today, I ended my holiday break in a very chilly San Antonio. Sorry for the obnoxious title but basketball season is in full throttle and the spurs are my team.(!!!!) Not really, but everyone loves to say that here and rep the spurs with flags and stickers on their cars. Gotta admire that pride, huh? Anyways back to the important stuff, I am feeling very excited but anxious about the next five months. I can't believe the first leg of my journey is already here and about to ...

... mmm enchiladas. Then Evan and I went for a walk downtown and poked around the Alamo a few shops and along the river walk. Then we headed to the Shambhala Meditation Centre to practice together. Morgan met up with us at the centre and we went out for dinner. I tried fish and shrimp tacos quite good! Then a jazz band started playing so overall good food, good music and good conversation! I’m glad I made time to connect with friends ...

Jim Bowie and Davy Crockett both died in the Battle of Alamo. By then, it was late afternoon and time for our own battle ...

... in the hot, dry summers that concrete slabs and the foundations of homes can be broken. How do I know that piece of Texas info? I'll come back to that shortly.

In the meantime here are the some other highlights: the Alamo! Honestly, it was well into the 90’s and by the time we parked the car and walked the few blocks to the Alamo, we were wilting a bit. Paula kept the anticipation high and splurged by getting us the phones for the self-guided ...

... building and the room is so nice, the old claw foot bath (like my reproduction one at home) is in the bedroom and the whole room is furnished with pretty antiques. Went down to the bar & wished we hadn't had a burger as they did food, never mind just a glass of wine and a beer instead. Went to bed at 10 but as usual Peter found a friend to debate global warming with ( the guy said it was rubbish) and stayed behind till 11.30 - glad I missed that ...
