I made that mistake when I was in Kentucky in 2003 and visited Maker’s Mark distillery in Loretto, in apparently dry Marion County. No free sample (insert sad face emoticon here). The same thing happened to me two years later at Jack Daniels in Lynchburg, Tennessee in dry Moore County.
