The Heart of Parkness, Vol. 1 - Mesa Verde

A travel blog entry by tomgreen on Jul 12, 2013

... lifted, our transportation conveyed us to camp just outside the entrance to Mesa Verde National Park - base camp. The glimmer of hope that the camp's wifi could be used was extinguished when we discovered...it was ****. We sought solace in the curry that was prepared for dinner (despite the three cooks showing significant side effects to the local produce), and retired to bed tired and full. The first 12 miles were quite scenic and very easy, riding along the Roaring Fork River and then eventually the Colorado River. We started our trip off with a little bang. We came to basically a dead end and ...

... up, up, up. It was quite pretty, and quite cold. DH said he had scouted some good greens to take me to. We headed over to where we thought the kids would be. We spotted DS; it looked like he was having a ball, and skiing really well! We didn't find DD though. I went down the "baby" hill and then up the "baby" lift, which also made me nervous. I hate chair lifts. Of course, I totally biffed it coming off ...
