Day 14 & 15: Houston, we have no problems
So, when we mentioned we were stopping in at Houston on our travels we got some less than favourable responses! But two days in, and the Schwaigers are lovin' Houston. A little steamy, but great for the skin after all that desert drying San Diego weather, and as you would expect from a city that invented the air conditioner, no shortage of places …
Not much to write about...
My only reason to come to Houston was to visit the NASA space center. Frankly, it was unimpressive at best.
Houston downtown looked very busy, huge and un-inviting and I felt very tired at the same time. So I decided not to do anything else in Houston. I checked into a motel close to NASA and crashed.
Tomorrow morning, I leave for the Bayou country in Louisiana. My destinations are going to be Lafayette, Avery Island, New Orleans and anywhere else that looks ...

Cancelled flight and problem solving
... the 7am from Houston to Austin. Sounded like a great suggestion, especially as there is a Marriott within the Houston airport.
So we did; the flight was fine and on-time. We were even able to sit together in Economy Plus, which isn't bad for a last-minute change. I had booked us a room at the Marriott; we took the train to the hotel and were in bed within 30 minutes of landing. It was after midnight but we were still a bit wired so took a little while to fall ...
