If ever there was a time when curling up in the fetal position in bed and crying was on the cards this would be one of them- but alas there was packing to be done! I tried to shut that part off, to pull out at another time, when I can allow the emotions to release. It was hard to see the room full, of stuff from two ...

... with this place it has become a tradition, it has happened to be when the kids are around 2 1/2 (entirely unplanned!) but it began with Cameron when he was little. We went with Mum (who was in a wheelchair by this point) because she had heard about the place and wanted to get one for him with her voice in it. Ashton was precious, he certainly has this whole thing down, he was quick to get in first and get the candy and ran to keep up with his siblings. We loved watching him and really enjoyed the outing. Melvyn and Jocelyn have never experienced ...

... 10,000 selections made before 1 new variety is commercialised. This is on a 80 Ha block that was donated to the UC Davis many years ago and is in full use for this maintenance work and other trials on various crops. They also had a trial looking at different rootstocks, that are currently used and may have potential in the future. One potential rootstock was found growing in the middle of a stream in Oregon. It is presumed to be flood tolerant. We saw ...

The fourth of July is obviously a huge celebration here, and after much debate we decided we were not able to travel far for partying as Ben may have an interview for his job this week. Instead we got up and went for brunch at a diner in Winters. After this it was non stop country music all the way to Ben's parents' house. With all the American merry making I gave Ben permission to drink beer and shoot guns on his holiday. So we picked up some guns, went to the local brewery ...
