... up front on the LAX - SYD portion. With almost 14 hours of flying just from the West coast, you would feel the same way too!

If everything goes OK, we should be landing in SYD at 840AM on the morning of Friday, Nov. 20th.

We are all excited about our first trip DOWN UNDER! Vegemite for everyone!
Atlanta, Georgia, United States lisabeth.kayAtlanta was a hot mess. Where to begin...

When we pulled into our hotel on the Northeast outskirts of Atlanta, I should've known this would be an odd 24 hours. The hotel was less than desirable, but we made due. I was so distracted by my excitement at being near a Publix, that I was able to look past the less than grand hotel and try to find the silver lining... or rather green fluorescent lining. I proclaimed loudly with a shriek of glee, my elation upon seeing ...
Atlanta, Georgia, United States tourdevDay tirpping across the universe (get that Star Trek theme song going)! We are leaving the warmth of our little cabin in Chattanooga and heading to Atlanta, Georgia. Got up early, for once, and hit the road for our 2 hour drive to Atlanta. Our goal of the day was Stone Mountain.

This private park, which is a mix between campground, nature park and theme park (sounds weird we know ...
Atlanta, Georgia, United States bekandjesseWow! Where does a year go?!! I can't believe that, in addition to casting my vote for change (which ain't quite working out as well as I'd hoped so far), this time last year I was also preparing to embark on my dream trip to India and experience a change of culture that I'll never forget! In revisiting this blog of my trip I've found that India certainly remains the most challenging journey abroad I ...
Atlanta, United States yogigAll good things must come to an end..., "they" say.
I guess so, but if you're lucky (or just an excellent planner)... more good things await you around the next corner.

I had a great trip. I met interesting people, saw amazing sights, ate delicious (and not so delicious) foods, and had many new experiences I will remember for the rest of my life. I'm sure there is so much more to say... but even after everything, it's still good to be home!

Atlanta, Georgia, United States lolly13We got up, had breakfast at the hotel and drove to PDX to turn in the rental car. We had driven over 1500 miles in eight days. We got in line to go through security and I got separated from Dennis and Elizabeth. The TSA checked my bag and confiscated my jar of Huckleberry Honey. They said ...

Cartersville, Georgia, United States lovegossip909Next to Hotlanta see one of my good college friends, Toni Bananas. Turns out he lives with another one of my fraternity brothers, Dirty (because he is from "the dirty south"...I think I will stick with nicknames as much as possible in these blogs). It was College Football Saturday and that took up a bit of time jumping around Buckhead area sports bars eating ...
Atlanta, Georgia, United States ericstripWe waited on the runway fo about 45 minutes then we took off. Those new GPS screens showed we circled several times over the Carolinas before heading north again. We circled again in NY then the pilot said we did not have enough gas to continue circling so we detoured to Syracuse to refuel. We were able to make phone calls and at this time it looked like there was no way to catch my flight. By the time we took off it was too late. I cried!!!
Atlanta, Georgia, United States gloshiv... along in Alabama we pass a field of old beetles and buses so just have to stop. We meet Don of Dons Buggies who came here from Cali some 15 years ago. He builds sandrails and dune buggies and sells restoration parts for Beetles and Buses. We of course have a good chat over a few beers then we get back on the road toward Atlanta. We're supposed to meet up with Westy friends George & Joanne there. It's getting late so we decide to hole up at a Flying ...
