With Red Deer only some 112 km. away from Calgary it shouldn't be a very long trip but when I am still encouraging visits to rural Alberta it adds miles and time. We headed east off the 2 some 63 km. from Red Deer but I expect we covered 120+ km getting there the way I nagivated.

... stands 2240m above sea level and offers amazing views of the rockies. It provides easy access from the highway to a days worth of hiking, scrambling, traversing and running down scree and shale slopes; we had a blast! It was a gorgeous day, maybe a little too hot but we started the hike around 7 hiking up through the forest and meadows until we reached the ridge, and thus started the fun part. Scrambling up along the ridge to the back side of ...

... strong winds to Red Deer. All up it was a 6 hour trip. The bikes went well. Once we checked into the hotel carol made a charge for the shower and Tim had to prise her out. Now, properly defrosted, we are sitting in the bar having a Caesar, beers and bourbon. Tomorrow will get an early start and head for Lethbridge. Should be our last day in Canada for a while. Sat in the bar, only Aussies present with Bob and Robin from Gasoline Alley in Brisbane, Walter and Sim, The Gypsy and Toad. See ...
