        Listed as one of the places to visit in the book "1,000 Places to See Before You Die", the city of Coeur d'Alene was named after the Native American tribe who lived along the rivers and lakes of the region. They were given this name by the French fur traders in the late 18th century, because of their tough trading abilities. The meaning certainly doesn't reflect the beauty of the area.
