We slept in this morning but still on the road by 9:30. Drove across SD to Mitchell to see the palace dedicated to all the corn we have been seeing. The Mitchell Corn Palace was not totally complete for the 2014 season, the festival is in 2 weeks so they are busy completing it but we saw several of the completed panels and the interior. It's a kick to have a Valentine's Day dinner in Valentine, Neb., but not to be outdone, we'll be back in O'Neill for the Big St. Patrick's Day festivities there, including the parade with the famous green horse!
Orchard is a delightful community just on the edge of the Sand Hills and off the beaten path -- which is a very, very good thing, if you love rural Nebraska as much as this man from Palmer, Neb., does!
