... a USA caminando sobre Rio Grande.
Today we made a quick visit to Mexico. A 230Km from San Antonio, Laredo is located (USA), and Nuevo Laredo (Mexico), separated by the famous Rio Grande. We parked the car in Laredo and after a brief visit, we crossed the border on foot, how exciting. Upon our arrival to Mexico, and after paying 75 cents, the street was plenty of Mexicans waiting there to offer ...
... until Alpine. we saw the marfi lights and where going to see them tonight. On the way back yesterday when we were coming to the rv mamaw got pulled over by the cops. She was going a little too fast, but was only warned! Papaw might be doing all the driving from now on.
I have questions to answer from Carlene and Aunt Cindy, but i will do that tomorrow, when I have more time!!
... rv, waiting for help. . At 7:50 someone came to help change the tire. Papaw cooked dinner in the microwave while we waited. . I lost my tooth while eating a piece of candy. We limped into Laredo and stayed in the walmart parking lot our first night. They came back to finish the tire at 7:45 a.m. the next morning. We walked to burger king for breakfast, then we had to buy 4 more tires.
Laredo, Texas, United States jacobsims... to a taxi stand. I hadn't been to Nuevo Laredo in probably around 5 years or so, and I had heard it had become very dangerous. But everything was fine and went very smoothly. After a $5 cab ride to the Bus Station, we got our tickets and waited to board. The bus station was very nice, and the buses are too. I am really surprised how easy it was to get over into Mexico, and wonder if we may actually have more trouble getting back into the states. -Homero - Nuevo Laredo, Mexico
Nuevo Laredo, Mexico hrsanchez... chairs and a nice fireplace. This town was pretty peacefull until the trains pulled through at all hours of the night and day, hooting their loud horns at the level crossings. Next stop was Amistead lake near Del Rio Where we stayed a night for $4 on the lake, the wind was blowing so we moved on again the next day, heading South East along the border. We hit Laredo on the 23rd and inched our way through ...
Laredo, Texas, United States mcgregors5... After dinner we set out to find a motel for the night and saw a real cool fifties looking place called the Beverly Crest that reminded us of the Hollywood motel in 'The World's Fastest Indian' where Burt is befriended by the cross-dressing desk clerk. Unfortunately there was no vacancy and we would stay at the Hawaiian Royale next door that was a bit run down, but after a long day of driving we just needed a place to crash.
Laredo, Texas, United States trialsrider... at the border. We got to the bus station and thank god the bus was at 10:40 cause that place was grim and miles from anywhere. We were crossing at Laredo/ Nuevo Laredo and I had found a news entry on the internet saying that it was a highly dangerous place to go as its one of the main points of entry for cocaine crossing into the States and the drug cartels are at war (the same drug cartels that have recently kidnapped and killed a load of American Journalists ...
Laredo, Texas, United States frankandcharlie... Section two was even worse as I stalled the bike and took a five on a section I should have been able to clean. I finally made my first clean of the day on section three. "Thanks, I really needed that", I told the judge as he punched my score card. I was feeling better now, but stalled the bike again on section four. Things weren't looking so good now! I turned in a good ride on section five and told the judge, "Consistency is not my middle name!" Six was down in the dry creek bed as was ...
Austin, Texas, United States trialsriderIn the morning trip to the library we got insurance estimates, some print-outs, and back to Wal-Mart for something we had forgoten. Then insurance office and, surprise - surprise, the price there was twice as much then online. So back to library to buy insurance and off we go. Quick last stop at Mc Donald's, MEXICO HERE WE GO... Laredo was a not so clean town and close to the border the streets ...
Nuevo Laredo, Mexico slainte... outside every shop stamped "Made in Taiwan." While I would love to think my new blankets were hand made by a little old woman in an adobe hut, something tells me they were made by a little old woman running a hundred electric looms in some slum in Taipai. No matter, a few cervezas and I'll be able to convince myself that I craftily obtained a couple of real Mexican artifacts once owned by a relative of Pancho Villa no less.
