      ... weeks ago, but they are still in the process of dismantling the enormous tents. To see the huge, vacant skeletons of these tents was an intriguing juxtaposition of the crowded, chaotic Oktoberfest scenes most tourists see.

      So it's been a long day, with far too much alcohol, and we are heading to bed early so we can be up before 6am to catch a train to visit Mad Ludwig's Castle tomorrow morning!

      How to start a full day of driving? Take a wrong turn!

      I did, but I realised almost immediately, so pulled into a petrol station, filled up the Katana looked at the map again, trying to memorise some of the highway numbers I had to aim for to get to the Stelvio Pass.
      I did have to backtrack twice but once I found the ring-road I was away. South.

      ... pork knuckle, potatoes, soups and meat dishes. The local beer is served in one size; large. Near all beer is served in 1Litre steins. Jas and I had 3 and Matt 2.
