    TUESDAY: We had a fantastic day and really enjoyed our visit to Lake Como. It was definitely worth the drive and effort! What a truly beautiful place.

    We set out early at 8.30 in the hope to beat the heat and get a car park near the funicular railway that takes you up a very steep gradient to lovely views at the top. We had a nice time wandering around at the top and David was very taken with an old old hotel ...

    ... places to eat. Lucy was hungry again. Oh dear. Luckily we didn't stop at one of the restaurants along the canal and walked further where we stumbled upon a large open air market.     ... empire and the Sforza castle. Street vendors and beggars were everywhere and they were extremely pushy. They would come up to me and grab me and not let go. It was unsettling and annoying. One street performer shook my hand and asked me where I was from, I ignored him but he would let go of my hand. I had to literally rip my hand out of his; it made me mad.
