After a day at home, we had to leave once again, this time to our son's house in the Lompoc area. This last part of our vacation was to last thru the week.

Upon the death of Dale’s parents, the siblings decided to meet every other year, for a weekend, at the site of the host sibling’s choice. We have met at the home of one, Lake Tahoe, Duluth and Rehoboth Beach. During this time, we lost 1 sibling, 2 nieces, 1 nephew and a granddaughter.

... the dodgy navigation cord to plug in and work. What do you know...it broke again. The micro-USB plug that connects into the actual device broke off. Thankfully though, dad is very handy and between the 2 dodgy cords and use of a bobby pin and a plastic knife as a screwdriver, he was able to make 1 good cord and we were in business! 3 lessons learnt here; - always check your navigation system before leaving the rental car depot - don't hire with Avis. Not only were ...

... fifteen miles to go the sun was a little lower than we would have wanted but at least it made for a good sunset photo at the top. On the way up we met a couple of Dutch riders who were finding the hill far too easy. They'd ridden across the States and the Rockies, so this was a breeze in comparison. One of them had the audacity to go past us, give us a big smile and then go flying back down to help an American rider who they'd hooked up with ...

        Christmas Day

Walked on the beach this am. Really wide hard sand for cars and RVs to drive on and to park. Lots of festive attire on dogs and people, even Santa hats on the boogie boarders! Pattcakes called with an uninvite for Christmas dinner! Evidently Lanita got ***** and suggested they just have dinner with their friends since we were coming. Not too inclusive. Anyway we have no plan B except to eat the shrimp platter we had planned to take for hors d' ouerves. Every place is ...

Next stop was Foxen Canyon Winery….I’d read this place was a favorite on the wine tasting circuit. We checked out the tasting menu and knew right away we wouldn’t be purchasing any wines here…the cheapest bottle was $50 and it went up from there. Nope, we’re not wine snobs, we want the best tasting wine at the lowest prices we can find! On down the road….

        I signed up ...
