... after the game 'tailgate' meal on Thursday, following Milwaukee Brewers baseball game and the cheese for our dinner party later that day. Tom and Joey had invited a number of the local families, who had hosted the GSE team in 2012, around to their home for dinner. It was great to catch up with and introduce Rana to Jim and Vetch Raymond from Edgerton (sorry Simon, I could not smuggle any of Jim's pork chops back) and from Madison - ...

Overnight rain cleared for our short trip up to Wisconsin Dells to catch up with Julie Mor, who had led the GSE team to Australia in 2012. Wisconsin Dells is the 'waterpark capital' of USA with more indoor water parks than anywhere else. In 2012, David and his GSE team spent a weekend at Spring Brook Resort run by Julie and husband Dar. It was great to meet up again over lunch and for a tour of local sights. Especially interesting was the recent ...

We found early signs of bulbs coming to life and volunteeers, working hard to prepare gardens for summer. We were delighted to meet Dr Yahr, who with his wife had recognised ...

Max writing: Although Thanksgiving was only a week ago so much has happened since, but I will write about Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving is very important here in the USA, and rightly so. It celebrates the survival of early settlers after many losing their lives through arriving before winter and not having a crop until the following autumn. It was taken up across the country (and in Canada) as a festival that all participate in, regardless of history or faith. Being thankful for ...

... one craft kit later we all met up and said goodbye to the Holdens and the dojang. With a quick check of the AFLC Pastor's directory we located the home of longtime friends and ministry partners, the Bensons. Unannounced, we dropped in and spent some time catching up with Pastor Jon Benson, his wife Jeanette, and their son "former youth ministry intern" Andy. After a season of rousing conversation and Lincoln Log building it was time to hit the road again; but we didn't make it far due ...
