After New Orleans, we decide to cut our drive to Austin short and stop in Beaumont, Texas. Yep…Beaumont, Texas. The one thing I can say about Beaumont is that they took the phrase "Everything's a little bigger in Texas" to heart. They are home to: 1) Happy Half Wit Muffler Man; 2) the world's largest "working" fire hydrant (formerly the world's largest fire hydrant); and 3) Big Beau the 135-feet long alligator. We had a ...

... in Texas and they are not kidding! That include the state! Oh my! Would you believe the today we encountered wide loads on the road. Reminded me of the hwy 63 days except the interstate highways in the states are all double lanes. Some observations: lots of corn fields and refineries. A "Hurricane Evacuation" road sign is something that we do not see at home but they are everywhere in Corpus Christi! ...

Left Kathy & Glens after breakfast, seems weird that the next time we see them will be in France! We'd talked with them and it seems that downtown Houston is just a city with some art galleries and museums and the best thing to see would be NASA space centre. Trouble is it is way south of the city so off we go to fight with the traffic again. We don't get there till after 12 and we hadn't reckoned on all the children - it was mid term break, ...
