    ... a quaint rural town early afternoon and went for a long walk around town. We're in a national parks area called1000 Islands, very picturesque.

    By the way, they have a modern Casino, so that where we had dinner, and a small bet or two.
    Tomorrow it's off to Montreal for a few days via the scenic route.

    Fran's ankle is getting better each day and is back to its normal size.

    It was a long day in the car - 11 hours cramped with the dogs - and always a 50 pound lapdog on me...but we were in good spirits....until we got to Watertown NY....where the hotels were scary and dirty....we finally found on that was sooooo old...but it worked.     ... Well apparently National Geographic, the US Coast Guard and Canada's Coast Guard joined together to count them.... and came up with 3 different answers. But the official answer was 1864. In order to be counted as an island, it has to have one square foot above water 365 days a year and has to have at least one tree. Otherwise it's a shoal, not an island.
