    Spent the morning in Metropolis with Superman. He is way bigger than he looks on TV, We went through 4 states today. We had to fight the GPS to get to Precious Moments. It wanted to send us 100 miles out of the way. Needless to say, we now have a new GPS.

    ... spa - called us to attention.  The drive was flat and easy.  The road from Springfield, MO to Joplin, MO and on to Tulsa has always been flat and usually, empty.  The roads were packed.  We were surprised.  They are making it into six lanes, thank goodness.  I stayed on the right side of the road and cruised along at the speed limit while RVs and other vehicles flew past me to the left the entire time.  We were in no hurry and that highway ...

Missouri and Kansas there is evidence of financial struggles for businesses, with many closed, including the famous Soda Fountain in Baxter Springs, which is now some sort of tertiary learning centre.
