It turns out this is quite a prestigious hotel, the Golden Globes are held here, lots of very expensive gala dinners are held here and Whitney Houston died on the floor above ours. There are bell boys and valets rushing around and expensive cars pulling up to the front door all the time. ...
... way. Katie, on the other hand, liked UCSB better because it feels more open. It is a sprawling, flat campus best traversed by bicycle. Katie liked the way the builds were spaced apart and felt it was easier to not get lost. We found it really interesting that Katie and Charlie liked the different schools for the opposite reasons. The both liked the suburban, "apart" feeling of the campuses.

... and the entertainment in Olvera Street was about to wind up. A quick wander through the historic street (there only seemed to be one!) and it was time to head back to our hotel. With the holidays still happening traffic was still relatively light and we were back at the hotel just after 6pm, time for a lighter dinner (scampi & rice with asparagus ...The vege of the season it seems!), time for some clothes washing and ready for bed to prepare for a full-on day ...

Today we drove to Burbank for the tour of Warner Brothers Studios. The studio is over 100 acres so during our 2 hour tour we couldn't see everything but we certainly enjoyed what we were able to see. First we visited the back lots. These were streets of buildings that were just facades. Some of the streetscapes we recognized from ER, Batman, Rent, Gilmore Girls, and Friends. The decorative elements are changed and then the sets are re-used. ...
