    This morning we packed up, had breakfast and headed towards San Francisco. We travelled in convoy as Ginny was going to drop her car off at Ingrid's in Oakland before carrying on.     ... feet doesn't seem like much, especially after the 7,000, 8,000 10,000 foot elevations we saw in Wyoming, Colorado and New Mexico. But these were steep and frequent. Repeated instances of 5 and 6 percent grades, both up and down. We stopped at the Redwood National Park visitor center, where, oddly enough, we got a nice view of a tidal marsh, and we took a short detour on the Avenue of the Giants, where the redwoods are big enough in diameter to drive a truck through.
