Today we drove back to Rankin County, Mississippi, for the final search of our trip. After a trip to the library, which has a vast genealogical section and a very helpful librarian- we realized that this is a place where we could easily spend a week! We left Robertsdale if for no other reason than to escape the constant gunfire from the shooting range nearby. Driving into Mobile reminded us of driving into San Francisco from the Bay Bridge, because it is approached by a bridge. Once we got into Mobile, we went into a tunnel to go under a shipping channel. ... No towns to pass through, no signs to read, no sights to see. Just me and the trucks, and not too many of them.

The actual road was a challenging ride. A divided highway, two lanes each side. Rode the shoulder for a while. It demanded attention as it had rumble strips on the left and gravel on the right.
