Sioux City... Actually North Sioux City which is in South Dakota as opposed to Sioux City which is in Iowa and South Sioux City which is in Nebraska. We were in all threes states within ten minutes time. We went to the Sergeant Floyd River Boat and learned much about Sergeant Floyd the Lewis and Clark expedition. Craig heard there was a candy shop downtown so we had to go the Palmer's Old Tyme Candy Shoppe and buy a bag full!

We are beginning to feel this trip is a little jinxed! The check engine light on the truck went on last week and Ford was so busy they had to take us on a wait list, number 20!! We had been planning on leaving July 2, and on the 1st, they said it should be done by midnight that day. However, midnight came and went, and when Greg called in the morning they said they had to get a ...

Went to Lincoln for BBQ lunch and to get Laurie's camera cleaned before getting into position around Columbus. We positioned ourselves perfectly to witness large sister wedge tornados and a cone tornado as they made their way along highway 281 between Norfolk and Pilger, sadly this system went on to almost completely destroy the small town of ...

Blue sky again. Mike and John left this morning at 5:15 for Mike wallet. We were on the road by 7:15 looking for gas. It ended up going 50 miles. We had breakfast in the same town. We ran into some guys on motorcycle from Kentucky heading for Alaska. They said they would be gone 2.5 months. We did not stop for lunch today. Our travel brought us to the Lewis & Clark Interpretive Center in Souix City around 2pm. I try a couple of times to call Mike but ...

Today we started the day with a bite of breakfast and then to Walmart to restock the refrigerator. As soon as we were organized we headed off to Mt. Rushmore. They show a video explaining how, why, and by whom the mountain was sculpt in the museum. I really appreciated being given a better understanding while viewing the monument. What an amazing undertaking! Heading out of Rapid City we took a 30 mile scenic loop of the Badlands National Park. It was so unusual and somewhat ...
