      We slept in until about 8:00 and although it was a chilly morning, it started to warm up quickly. As I was making coffee I noticed a little chipmunk coming toward me.       Today we started off at The Dalles on the Washington border and ended up close to California in the South - heading for Crater Lake.
      On heading out we saw Mt Hood, the highest mountain in Oregon (over 11,000 ft) lit up by the sun on its lower slopes. It looked amazing but its peak was shrouded in cloud.       ... around, on the edge of the trail........back to the real road. We did make it 2.5 miles into the hills :). After arriving back on the paved road, we headed back South into Nevada, 50 miles out of our turn left on 140 West......and head back towards the other side of Oregon.
