    ... more cattle and therefore irrigation. Pit River did have some water. About 35 miles out of Klamath Falls we came upon a huge plain which was very agricultural, with wheat potatoes and horseradish being grown! And of course lots of grass for the winter.     We slept in until about 8:00 and although it was a chilly morning, it started to warm up quickly. As I was making coffee I noticed a little chipmunk coming toward me.     Today we started off at The Dalles on the Washington border and ended up close to California in the South - heading for Crater Lake.
    On heading out we saw Mt Hood, the highest mountain in Oregon (over 11,000 ft) lit up by the sun on its lower slopes. It looked amazing but its peak was shrouded in cloud.
