        Shopping ... unsuccessfully

Our only activity today was an attempt to get the suitcases fuller before we head home in three weeks. We went to many stores over 6 hours and didn't get much at all, despite trying on lots of clothes. The day was pretty warm but it got overcast so the day was comfortable despite being in the late 80s. For lunch we had Taco Bell and for dinner we had ...

9/26 Day 97 We traveled today from Pecos TX to San Antonio TX. What a contrast to yesterday's trip. We used route 40 to get out of the Pecos area and then picked up route 10 which we took all the way to SA. Almost as soon as we hit 10 we started to see hills, small at first, but hills. These never got to be major mountains but the size gradually increased to the size of hills we have around Afton.

Desert brush predominated almost all the ...

... ultimate sacrifice for freedom. We then spent some time walking along San Antonio's Riverwalk -- an absolutely beautiful network of walkways along the banks of the San Antonio River, one story beneath the streets of downtown. It is lined by restaurants, shops, bars, hotels, bridges, old staircases, and lush landscapes. I've always been interested in old Spanish missions, and there is a ...
