Great stay! Clean, comfortable rooms. Energy-Saver settings: put key card into slot and it cools to your specifications; take your key card when you leave and it goes into energy-saver mode during your absence - not off, so it quickly returns to your settings upon your return. Large, comfortable breakfast room. Hot breakfast included: omelettes, pork and turkey sausages, waffles, pancakes, bagels, toast, cinnamon rolls, muffins, cereal, etc. (very nice!) We used the laundry facilities down the hall from our room to catch up on our laundry needs for the trip. The washer and dryer were clean and in great working order. Definitely quieter than staying in a casino (Sunset Station Casino is a short walk away) and cheaper than staying downtown.

Today we went to the Stratosphere Casino to check out their rides. We walked through the casino and Mom finally found an information desk. She approached the desk with the kids to find out about prices. After the staff finally finished their socializing behind the desk, a lady began talking to Mom then saw the kids. She insisted that the children …

Mom and Dad both agreed to change plans and head to Las Vegas! Mom booked the helicopter flight for Sunday then started working on a hotel. She settled on a Holiday Inn Express in nearby Henderson and we …

... and watched the obligatory 20 minute video. Lake Mead is really beautiful, but since the water flow coming out of the Lake Mead has been greater than the snow melt coming in for the last 17 years, the lake is looking very low. But it still looked awesome as a recreational area, and we took a bunch of pictures.
Along the way to the dam, we passed through the Historic District of Boulder City. Just a main street really, with some interesting ...

... was 11:00 by now, and the temperature was climbing into the upper 90's. Still not too bad for a couple of Floridians, and every once in a while, the sun would go behind a cloud and the temperature would drop a few degrees. As I rounded the corner onto Amboy Rd, there was a big blue sign that said "no services for the next 90 miles", so we turned around and headed back to Twentynine Palms to to off the gas tank.
