Woke early am due to thunder and lightning. Had biscuits and gravy. Essentially scones and a roux sauce with u identified bits in. Apparently sausage I think but tasted like mushroom. Salty. Today is a chore day. Sheila and I did chores and got the coach ready for our next trip which is to Cortez, CO. Attached are a couple of pictures of the Blue Mesa Recreational Ranch (the campground) and the Blue Mesa Reservoir.

... Falls. We got to the trail, but chose not to do the hike. Again today, the storms were moving in. I didn't want to get caught up on a dirt road that was getting washed out. So we headed back down the mountain and back to Gunnison. The timing was almost perfect. We just got down to the paved road before the heavy rains came.

The storms continue here in southwestern Colorado. The Blue Mesa Lake is full, the rivers are high, and flash flood warnings are in effect. In fact, the folks of Gunnison are concerned that this weekend's kayak competition may need to be postponed because the white water is to dangerous.

... and visit Crested Butte nearby. We decided to hike near Crested Butte. Well this was a bust. Apparently everyone who likes to hike or do outdoor things in this part of Colorado has 4 wheel drive high clearance vehicles. The roads to all hiking trails and ghost towns (quite a few in general area) are not paved and much too rough for our little Impreza WRX. ...
