Today was one of my favourite days so far. Eugene has got it going on and I am loving everything about it: the laid back pace, the simple beauty, the colour, and of course, the hippies. I don't even know if that's an accurate term to describe the eclectic people who live here, but it has the connotations that I'm looking for so I'm using it. Seb and I had a lazy start to the day. Our hostel has a main house and then another smaller house a few blocks away, and we ...

... Stars and Stripes being played!!

After the competition we met Lawrie, Gwen and Julie at Beppe's and Gianni's for dinner. Peter and Peanut also joined us. Fantastic company but my halibut was rather dry and had grill marks on it with a rather burnt taste. After dinner we walked back to the Matthew Knight Arena for the VIP Reception and after party. We were in a side room while the main action for the youngsters was in the main arena with a DJ and very loud music. We ended up ...

We drove all day Thursday to Eugene. Some parts of the drive were wet & rainy and other times I actually had sunglasses on. There was a brief moment when I felt sunshine on my face and saw some blue sky. I was sure the natural sky color was grey until I saw that spot of blue!

We only had cold water. So stopped by an RV place and the guy showed Gary which valves had to be switched back on. Gary ...

... basically a long driveway with the tree at the end. You go through and head back down the driveway. But at least we got pictures!

The rest of the day was driving. 300 miles total. Don't even ask what time we got to Eugene. We've got another 300 miles straight up the 5 freeway to home. Maybe we'll have time to stop and get pedicures on the way...

Looking forward to home and my own bed! One more driving day!
