    ... stands for Operation Awesome. they were a great band with a terrible lead singer. This guy- Chris Can- who has a terrific voice- had a stage presence that made us uncomfortable.     When you cross the rusty old bridge across the Sabine river into Texas, the speed limit on the highway jumps to 70 (from 55). You get the message quickly. On the Louisiana side of the river is a park commemorating some Confederate breast works (with confederate flags flying).     I had a couchsurfing place in Austin and my first meeting with Eric and his daughter Charlotte was, to put it simply, strange. Eric is an artist type but not the type of artist I like, he is just strange for the sake of being strange, not the inspirational types I have met before who are into eclectic things because that is just who they are.
