On Sunday morning I went to worship at St Alban's church. I go to this one every time we are visiting but because there is often a year or two between visits I cannot expect them to remember me. I am always made to feel very welcome and this time was no exception. There was only a small congregation as this was the holiday weekend and lots of people will have gone away. On Saturday evening we drove to Fayetteville to attend a concert by Peter and Karen. Peter is Jane's son. Jane lives next door to Frank and celebrated her 93rd birthday on Thursday! We had met Peter and Karen before, and had one of their CDs, but we had not heard them performing live. The hall was full of their family, friends and other fans. It was a great atmosphere and the music was fantastic.

We set off..........and celebrate Thanksgiving
... appear to be flying over the crowd but are actually held down on strings by 20, 30 or more people. The parade had floats with singers and dancers, marching bands and cheerleaders. The climax was the final float carrying Father Christmas. It seems that Thanksgiving is the start of the Christmas season (what happened to Advent?). Later in the day five other people arrived and we had a Thanksgiving feast! Lovely food, wine, good company - it was a great day!
