Oklahoma was a beautiful state but I did not have time to stay. Now that I am in Arkansas I am going to have The Grilled Atlantic Salmon from a restaurant I found called South Park. It was $9.99 and then I had a water to drink. Next I got gas at Valera for $44.69 and then I arrived at a Holiday Inn Express so goodnight!
In two days, I will be starting what will almost certainly amount to the most challenging journey of my life so far, physically, mentally and logistically. I will be flying to Atlanta this Tuesday morning and starting my thru-hike of the Appalachian Trail the next day. The Appalachian Trail runs for almost 2,200 miles through 14 states. The total elevation gain from hiking the entire trail is like climbing Mount Everest 16 times. I'm planning to/guessing that ...

So, you know it's getting real when you start having nightmares about it.
I woke up in the wee hours of this morning with the most god awful camp in my right calf. My first, sensible reaction was, of course, to assume that I'd been shot. The pain was worse than childbirth (or so I can only conclude).
