Historical Traveler Reviews Holiday Inn Express Hotel And Suites Orlando-Lake Buena Vista East Kissimmee

      La Quinta Maingate -- Excellent!

      from

Stayed Dec 5-8 $69 night for one bedroom suite- Two 27" tv's, mini fridge, and microwave...excellent location, friendly staff, nice decor and noon check out.

I would absolutely stay here again!

      Wonderful accomodations

      from

We visited Orlando with our two children, staying three nights at this La Quinta in one of their one-bedroom suites. The room was nicely appointed, clean and seemed new. The bathroom was large and clean. The living room and the bedroom each had a 25" TV, and there were abundant channels to choose from (about 70). However, there were no pay-per-view movies available. The sofa bed in the living room was comfortable.

The pool was clean, but salty. The playground consisted of single set, but it did keep our 4-year-old amused for an half-hour or so. The game room was fun--it had an air hockey table--but the price to play was rather steep: $1.50!

The continental breakfast was easily as good as at any hotel we've stayed in, with a good assortment of food and beverages. There were cold cereals, waffles, french toast, bagels, muffins, etc, and an assortment of fresh fruits. There was also 2% and skim milk, coffee, hot cocoa, orange juice, cranberry juice, and apple juice. The seating was plenty adequate, and several high chairs were available.

Housekeeping was outstanding! They even washed a few dishes we left in our kitchenette's sink while we were out having fun!

The hotel enjoys proximity to a Publix and a Target, as well as every restaurant imaginable. There is also a very nice outlet mall within walking distance. However, the hotel's location was quiet and away from the busy streets, which made for a relaxing stay.

Overall, this is an attractive, comfortable place to stay. While the amenities (pool, playground) are just adequate, the room and service vastly exceeded our expectations for the price.

      Bravo, La Quinta!

      from

There are not enough accolades to express my appreciation for this hotel and its staff! La Quinta is a WONDERFUL value for the money. We got a rate of $44/night through Travelocity. Our room had a refrigerator and a microwave; the hotel's pool and hot tub were nice (especially considering how little time we had for them, anyway); and the free continental breakfast was more than adequate for our needs. Our housekeeper, Alcira, was wonderful. Our little girls couldn't wait to return to the room every night to see how she'd arranged their stuffed animals! The hotel is conveniently located and we were able to find everything we needed. We'll never consider staying anywhere else.

P.S. Give Medieval Times Dinner Theatre a try. Our family loved it!

      Highly recommend

      from

I stayed 4 nights at the La Quinta Maingate. The hotel is new and very clean. The pool and exercise room was nice also. The front desk staff was friendly and helpful when we had questions. The price we got was very reasonable through this website's search engine.

The only thing I didn't like was that the walls of my room were thin. If you do have noisy neighbors, you may want to request a room change.

I would recommend this hotel to anyone planning on visiting the Orlando theme parks. It's location is convenient, and there are lots of restaurants and shops nearby.

      Great!

      from

A fantastic hotel. We felt like millionaires!

The staff were wonderful and the rooms perfect.

Great breakfast! We would definitely go back.

      Loved the decor

      from

We first used this hotel last November 03 shortly after it had opened. My wife and I wanted to show my daughter/ son inlaw and the grangchildren the "swish" place we had stayed in when we had visited last year. Standing some 300yds off highway 535 its lovey and quiet. It Has a lovey outdoor pool, hot tub, and sand pit with a slide for the kids set in a tastefully planted garden. The pool is warm and shallow enough to come into the catorgary of "Child Friendly"The rooms a large, airy. spotless cleaned and well fitted out. On the ground floor is a spacious lobby, with scrumpious free cookies on the front desk. Gym and laundry facilitiesIt has a large breakfast bar with Breakfast included. If you are one of these "Anti Carbs fanatic" you might not hold the same opinion as us. But we thought it was great, better than a "greasey" one we would have got elsewhere which would clog up our arteries, we might go home fat but not stiff. The cealing fans wafting the cool air over the guests dissapointingly were driven by electricty instead of a "Flunky". but I suppose you carn't have everything ? Everything about this Hotel was great. and we couldn fault it.Certainly the best we have been in. At $89 a room was good value. I have paied a lot more for a lot less. Fantastic.

Great location, new and clean hotel.

      from

Hotel is almost new, the rooms are very clean, the location is great - 15 minutes to Disney, 25 minutes to Universal studios and Seaworld, all the outlets are couple of minutes drive. For the price that we got (62 $ per night for family of 4) I think it's a great place to stay.

      A Beautiful Hotel

      from

This is a really nice hotel. It's new and well designed. The rooms are standard hotel size but the one I was in had a 10 foot ceiling which made the room seem very large. I was on the first floor so I don't know if all the rooms are like this.

The hotel is centrally located within easy reach of all the Orlando/Kissimmee attractions. However, don't expect to walk anywhere as it is in a residential area with only a couple of convenient stores within walking distance.

People who stay at La Quinta type hotels aren't expecting resorts but this one is above the norm for this type of hotel.

      Great value.

      from

This hotel was really nice for the money. I booked the hotel through priceline and I paid $48 per night. The surrounding hotels with less amenities were $69 per night with a coupon. The rooms were really clean as the hotel is brand new and just built in May 2003. The decor was modern. The area was PERFECT and away from the hustle and bustle of Lake Buena Vista and 192, but close enough to quickly get to Disney World, Disney Market Place, Lake Buena Vista, Orlando Premium Outlets, Old Town, Arabian Nights, Medieval Times, etc. From my room, I could see the Bungy Jumping thing at Old Town. There is a small fitness center, small gameroom, small pool, small childrens play area. The workers were VERY friendly. I had problems with other guests. This is a completely non-smoking hotel and there were guests smoking in the rooms. There were only 2 small elevators and there were times that I had to wait for the next one. It was ok, though, because some of the characters, I didn't want to ride up with anyway. There is a refrigerator and a microwave which I thought was wonderful, it saved us money on drinks and snacks. We popped popcorn and made those cup a soups for snack. On the downside, I got a wakeup call at 6am when I didn't ask for one. I was not really happy with that. I also found it to be a bit strange that there was a black plunger next to the toilet.

Plunging the toilet shouldn't be MY job on vacation. I gave it a solid 4 stars because for a hotel that I thought would be just ok, it exceeded my expectations especially with the cleanliness.

Don't let the website fool you

      from

I booked this hotel through Priceline, so I had to research the amenities after booking. The Web site is apparently a generic corporate one that doesn't give any specifics about the hotel. I had to call to be certain that it had a pool because none was listed on the amenities.

However, we arrived to find a new hotel situated in a quiet area that has excellent access to the Disney property and is also close to SeaWorld. They have a mini frig and microwave in each room, the standard free breakfast buffet, and the Lake Buena Vista Premium Outlets center is just across the street (none of this is mentioned on the Web site). All the hoopla of Kissimmee's Hwy. 192 is about a mile away. There is only one pool and it's nothing special, but it served our needs just fine.

      Day 3: Animal Kingdom

A travel blog entry by karenlhorne on Apr 09, 2014

Another day, another theme park! Today is Animal Kingdom, one of my favourites. People staying in a Disney resort get to go one hour before opening time. We are up early anyway so decide to take advantage of this. So there we are at 7.45 am and wondering whether we are slightly insane. If we are, we are not on our own - it is packed! All the rides are loosely connected to animals: Kilimanjaro Safaris takes you through a mock up African plain to see hippos, ...

... first time on the Florida Turnpike. I love their service centres – lots of choice, bright and airy and clean. Our original destination was Cypress Cove and we had plugged their address into the Garmin. For some reason it took us all the way around and by the time we found it we decided it was too cold today to enjoy the pool, especially the way I was feeling.

At this point we still did not have a place to stay ...

Our day started out by getting up at the ********** of dawn. Actually, we got up at 7:30 (6:30 Arkansas time). We had a backstage tour to get to... Epcot's Undiscovered Future World tour. We started out by meeting up with the rest of the tour group at guest relations and getting name badges. Our group was made up of 13 or 14 people. We have very few pictures from the tour, since we aren't allowed to take any while backstage. Stop reading now if you don't want to hear what we ...

... quite simply, daylight robbery when their competitors just down the road offer you the same 'perk' with the price of your ticket. This is though, symptomatic of the difference between Disney and Universal. There is no doubt that the rides in the two resorts are comparable (some prefer Disney's more family oriented approach, while other's like Universal's teen centred style) but in terms of service and organisation Universal is left trailing in Disney's wake. Even in Universal's ...
