I'm working on a grant for the National Institutes of Health that is due early next week. Once that's done, it's full-on preparation for our month-long Journey to India. Daisy is doing her Santa impression (making her list, checking it thrice) and we received 4 new pieces of luggage the other day.

The airline tickets are booked and now we just have to finalize some domestic trips while on the sub-continent.
Milwaukee, Wisconsin, United States vdroverExciting times! One more day before the big trip and we are doing out last minute preparations before we go. There are things to be packed though and that will get done tonight and then a little bit more tomorrow. We have an evening flight so we should be pretty well rested and ready to scout about Copenhagen as soon as we get checked into the hotel.

Stay tuned for more!
Milwaukee, Wisconsin, United States gildo... items from Peace Corps Volunteers (PCV). I bought yak traks, which I will be wearing in winter because I hear that Ukrainians do not put salt or sand on the roads so it is difficult to keep footing.

I'm also working on getting an address book together so I can keep track of people hopefully. It is much tougher than I ...
Muskego, Wisconsin, United States krtravels... our collection of dish towels! Please don't mistake me as being ungrateful. It's nice that they get me anything at all. They also offered to pay for a new cell phone (Palm Pre here I come!). Seeing mom and dad and Lucy of course is always a treat. Even though our time together was short, we got to catch up on developments of their new Florida home, dad's golf game and retirement, and life in general.

Time to board the Midwest ...
Muskego, Wisconsin, United States chmielewskijThanks to Rob for allowing me to stay in his baller ass apartment situated directly on top of a bar, I got to experience the greatness that is Milwaukee (when the weather is nice). I got to hit up a few brewery tours, some sweet bars (spy bar!), cheap beer wasn't hard to find, finally tried out P90X (ouch) and I even experienced the Blink182 ...
Milwaukee, Wisconsin, United States dmdmadzI chanced upon this terrific deal on Airtran Airways, which I simply couldn't resist... 2 round-trip tickets from Milwaukee to Minneapolis on the Memorial Day long weekend for less than 250 bucks!!! and I grabbed it..

The first time the Twin Cities caught my attention (although unknowingly) was when I received the informational brochure for the 2006 ASLA [American ...
Milwaukee, Wisconsin, United States a_travelbug... has a refrigerator in his room, no 2 bottles of water, no "your room has been upgraded" this time, lack of a welcome back on check in, the restaurant does not staff the host stand in the evening so you cannot get a table. I could make up more things but they are trivial. And that is what is wrong with this stay. All the little things adding up (or more correctly subtracting) to a leaving a bad taste in my mouth.
Milwaukee, Wisconsin, United States cayenne92After spending some of the day on Sunday shoveling wet, heavy snow I am preparing for another hop out of the state of Wisconsin, but at least this time it is a domestic hop to Carmel, Indiana. Sitting here at Gate D52 at General Mitchell, it is not without a sense ...
Milwaukee, Wisconsin, United States gildo... an area outside for the non-dancers of the group or for the girls whose high heels hurt too much to dance. Everyone had a great night and truly danced the night away. The guys did win the food donation and the girls each got to go home with flowers at the end of the night! It was a fantastic event that everyone is sure to remember fondly, all done in the name of charity. Claire & Lizzie
Milwaukee, Wisconsin, United States ulsterproject... place that you come for. Secret entrance and exit. Spy motif. Found a church rummage sale and bought stuff to sell on EBay. Turned out to be a bust. Mostly hats, which I am donating to the B&B that I'm staying in. They have a theatre in the basement. Well, that about sums it up. I plan to visit the following today so will write about them in my next entry. Frank Lloyd Wright American System Built Homes Sprecher Brewery Tour Villa Terrace Decorative Arts Museum
