So when you head to desert you're usually thinking of warm dry weather. Well a snow storm hit the night before I left so I ended up driving in low visibility thru deep slush until I got to the New Mexico state line. I lost two of my wheel caps to ice and slush that had built up as I was driving and caused them to come off along the way. At one of the rest areas I stopped at, I opened my door to get out and a large sheet of ice fell off the door. It sounded like a china cabinet being knocked o...

I really wanted to see the lava field in El Malpais so that is where I headed first this morning. It was worth the drive. I went to the Sandstone Bluffs overlook and it was very pretty.
I looked around the puddles to see if any critters had been around. No tracks. I guess they were all washed away by the previous ...
... the rest of the way through New Mexico. And got to arizona. I skipped stopping at anything besides a few roadside souvenier places. I am in the area of the petrified forest so I had to stop and get a chunk of it. I stopped at a place called Stewart's and they have all kinds of funny things around. Then I went to check into my hotel in holbrook. What a treat that was. I really ...

We also had to hold on very tightly to the doors as we did so, for fear of losing them altogether. Once out of the car, we became the personal victims of the wind and the sand that it carried with it. The cheapest beauty therapy you could ever hope for - a nice abrasive scrub, taking off all of you dead skin, and a reasonable layer ...
Holbrook, Arizona, United States lauravanwaas... After Lunch, we went to Petrified Forest. It is a park where trees (very old one) have been change to rocks. Not because they were not nice, but just with the time (my dad can explain you much better, but I could not understand it all). Fianlly sun was back, and it was a nice tour. Finally...we arrived at our hotel...I will say at our Wigwam (look at the pictures). Also, it remind me at the movie "Cars"...don' you ? look at the pictures Have a good night Remy
Holbrook, Arizona, United States remyarnouThis morning by 9am we had already been upset by an obnoxious American, presumably the campground host, who came to our pitch and said "you guys didn't register and pay last night". Neil took great delight in telling him that maybe it would be better if he said "excuse me, did you register last night?" We had in actual fact registered and paid the fee and had actually spoken to whom we presume to be his wife, who if she could have bothered to have put ...

In earth years I am middle aged, but I have a young soul, and that is what really matters I believe. From what Stella told me about her daughter, she has an old soul. She reminded me of Katrine and of Nick, they have old souls. They are all wise beyond their years as we count them here on earth. If she reads this, and I say ...
Holbrook, Arizona, United States cobra1899... were still laden with the stuff. Brilliant! When we went to a particular lookout, the ranger was lecturing some kids, telling them not to throw snow balls, tread on virgin snow or to make snow angels. Outwardly I nodded along to this, but inside I was crying. So, instead we took about 750 photos. We have only included 2 here fortunately. Another day trip was to a local beauty spot called Sedona. This had lots of Red Rocks in it ...
