    ... too bad.

    This was the most impressive site we have seen so far. Each point on the serpent aligned with a solstice sunrise/sunset, moonrise/moonset or equinox point. Very impressive - the gift shop was also very good, with local native crafts (our first big shopping "spree".

    930 am Our first day and how exciting! Packed for 3 weeks in a carry-on (that was interesting;), we made it through security without problems, and now we wait for the first leg of our journey to Detroit while the remaining 51 people of our group board for Atlanta. We'll see ...

    Got a little bit of a late start this morning but had a good time at Fort Ancient looking at the ruins of an ancient community. Lots of earthworks visible all around the region, two calendar mounds that marked the summer and winter solstices. Very good museum that went way past how the Paleo-Indians would have lived, although it gave lots of information about that as well. Moved into the wars with France and the British colonists as well, and spoke of some small communities ...

    ... and then Chillicothe, Ohio, and then West Virginia. Today we hit Highbanks Metro Park. There are two burial mounds and an earthwork here - rain kept us from hiking to those today, but we'll go back tomorrow. We did have time to see three snakes, and a skunk! Only got a picture of the one big snake - didn't hang around to get a picture of the skunk!!

    ... of the buildings and we parked to get out and look at the Horseshoe Stadium. She showed us the two towers where all of the athletes stay. I found out that Jeffrey Dahmer lived in Morrill Tower. I guess people who lived on that floor were haunted by his ghost and parents were getting uneasy, so they turned the whole floor that he stayed on into storage. That was about it for this day. We were all exhausted and came back to Roya's and passed ...
