We continued our touring into Monroe City. According to the literature we have in our possession, their main claim is a church from 1897with medieval styling and stain glass windows. Well you couldn’t prove it by me, it was closed up tight. Guess we would have to hire it for a wedding or reunion in order to see it.

The van starting problem turned out to be a bad ground connection which was an easy fix and a lot cheaper than a new starter which was the first diagnosis. It took until noon before I got on the road again so it was another short day.

... we were in Hannibal. I was thinking, we should be able to pick up something in Hannibal, it is a fairly large city! NOTHING!! We went to Walmart and ended up purchasing a cheap phone and some minutes to use while we are in this area. The young man who helped us got us connected and everything, so now at least we have a phone, still no internet and Bob is having trouble with the satellite, so not sure what we can do about that.
... Then we went into a room full of oak barrels. This is where the wine is "resting" and getting ready to bottle. After the tour we got to taste several of their wines. There were a couple of dry ones, but for the most part they were pretty good (as far as my educated palate could tell). There were three that stood out for me, so of course I had to buy them. Now I have 7 bottles of wine to carry around for the next 2 months, because I know I will not drink them all.
Because how else does one one prepare for a hike except by downloading apps?
It's dawning on us that we really are doing this in just a month. I keep googling "TMB fitness level" hoping to find reassurance that my daily flat walks to and from work are somehow preparing me for mountain trekking. Google has not offered much reassurance as of yet.
