    It is really beautiful here in the park. There are more camp hosts than campers right now, so it's really quiet too.
    We decided to go back into town and stroll along the boardwalk. The first place we came to was a restaurant with outdoor, pet friendly dining. Cool! We're hungry and we got pets!! There was a young lady outside passing out samples of their clam chowder. The chowder alone was reason to stop ...

    ... Cloudy , Overcast ,Heavy fog , A bit Erie ,
    Drove back to Newport to explore , Much more interesting than just driving through. Enjoyed browsing through the Sylvia Beach Hotel . Clam Chowder at Mo's ,locally famous seafood restaurant. This evening walked the beach in front of our hotel in the gathering gloom.

    590 miles to San Francisco. ETA Sunday 27th.

    ... and headed for the beach. This cove was fairly well protected with only a breeze blowing. Harley headed for the water while Aragon ran circles in the sand. There was only one couple on the beach for about a half mile, so that was nice.

    We wiped the dogs off, shook the sand out of our shoes and headed up the road to see the Heceta Head Lighthouse just south of Yachats. This lighthouse sits on a jagged cliff 105 ...

    ... but the hike paid off! Way down below the ocean crashes in with no mercy as it hits the rocky coast line but yet seems to ever so gently roll up the long sandy beaches. You really can watch this forever in amazement. The rest of our day was filled with a hike straight up into the old growth forest behind Perpetua, a beautiful hike with huge, old, tired looking trees standing tall and strong in the forest with ferns filling the ground beneath them.
