... for the Orion programme, which will see people land on Mars in the mid 2030s. It was a really interesting building and cool to see actual workers doing their stuff. Third stop on the tour was a look at a rocket that was built for the Apollo programme but never got launched due to funding being pulled. It was interesting to hear the retired rocket scientist talk about the three stages of the rocket and what powers each of them. The rocket is ...
Another drive today, this time to Seabrook which is 20 minutes south of Houston. It was a 4 hour drive and we were surprised by the amount of greenery and trees around during the drive. We expected more sparse areas, desert and brown. The drive took us right through Houston, and it got a little hairy driving through it because of some crazy drivers. Fortunately ...

... There was an Australian couple, Ian and Margaret Shaw, who have lived in Houston for about 10 years now and we met them and had a nice chat. It's amusing that people in the US think that all Australians know each other and were surprised we didn't know the Shaws! When we explain that Perth is about as far from Sydney as it is from LA to NY things click into place.
Anyway, we really enjoyed our time at West Houston and the boys were keen to go back and visit too.
