Getting Closer to home!
We had hoped to make it a bit further - however, the Yukon had a leaky tire that needed to get fixed and cost us about 2 hours dealing with that. It turned out to be a good thing! We missed a severe storm with hail and heavy winds near Tucumcari, NM - which was our original destination for the night!

Our only moan about this site is the flies, it is like something from the amyteville horror in the day time, but come dark they disappear for the night, the upside then is that the stars come out, this is wonderful with no back light. Really clear view of the milky way and everything else in the sky.

Day 29: Oklahoma to Texas
... was SO much nicer. That said, Palo Duro Canyon (about 30 miles southeast of Amarillo) was very beautiful. The land went from completely flat, to the second largest canyon in the United States. Our campsite was totally awesome. The main office warned of rattlesnakes, tarantulas, and flash floods. The lady was from Oregon though, so she knew to put us in a rocky scenic spot instead of an area surrounded by trees. That was really great. Driving in to camp, we did a little freaking ...
