    ... renowned for earthquakes and tsunamis.
    After squatting our way through a particularly low section of ceiling we walked back up the drift to daylight.
    Back in Concepcion, the streets were busy. On the main square there were statues to Pedro de Valdivia and Lautoro, who killed him - in diametrically opposed corners.
    Though there were places to eat, most offered pizza and pasta so we opted to eat Mexican at the flat.

    The flat was right in the heart of the city but the streets were empty, bar packs of dogs. The shops, petrol station and restaurants were all closed. Down in the "Zona Pubs" near the railway station, we found a single corner café open. We asked what food there was and it seemed everything involved chips. Inside the TV played 1980s hits such as Depeche Mode, Erasure and Yazoo. It reminded Joan of her time in Manchester ...

    ... hurriedly stuffing a porn mag into his daysack. We arrived late in Santiago and were pleased to see a friendly face in one of piggys (many) cousins, Alan. He kindly put us up for the night in his central Santiago apartment, it had a panoramic view from a rooftop terrace.     The first of two all-too-short visits to see Sebastian's relatives in Chile. We arrived in Concepcion after taking a a couple planes Cusco-Lima-Santiago, and then an early morning bus. We had a great time and it was wonderful to see everybody. We hope we can come back soon!!

    ... and spring. It works perfectly and I can’t believe the difference a good rear suspension makes in cornering and of course taking the bumps. It seems perfect for the weight I am carrying. I am very pleased!
