Jazzy blues in the "Windy City" of Chi-town!
CHI-TOWN!
We made it to the ‘Windy City’ on Sunday evening after a 3-hour flight from ‘Vegas‘ to ‘O’Hare,’ and 2 CTA trains to our hotel in downtown Chicago. Now in the state of Illinois we lost 2-hours of our day and were welcomed into the city with minus conditions (a.k.a. ridiculously freezing …
Plenty of Art
... br> But you will be pleased to know there is a nod to mammon. In one of the wings there is a reconstruction of the Chicago Stock Exchange Trading room floor which was once in a building that was pulled down in 1971. The floor was saved as it is full of fantastic mosaics, decorations and the like - at least they saved a lot and reconstructed the rest. I think it was originally built early 1900s. Don't have details ...

Chicago and beyond
... thing we discovered (as if Wall Drug wasn't enough), was that the local swimming pool closes the day after the school holidays finish. A week before we arrived! They don't even just wait for the weather to turn bad, they just pull the plug out on the first day of school. As you can imagine, as Australian's we were gob-smacked (I did mention it was a stinking hot day didn't I?). While we were waiting for the bus at said hole in the ground, some ...
Aquariums, Planetariums, and Blues
So fresh off my 24 hours of being sick to my stomach it was off to the museum section of Chicago (south east corner of the city).
We started with Shedd Aquarium which was pretty cool. Much like the name might suggest, it was full of fish and other sea creatures. The highlight was the Jelly Fish exhibit (which I believe is a speciality exhibit, only available for a limited time). There were jelly fish from all over the world and pretty much all of ...

Historical Traveler Reviews Hotel Cass, a Holiday Inn Express Chicago
Bare, but sufficient
the cass hotel was just what i expected for the price. it was a mere $64/night during late june. it's basically just a place to sleep, there's no pampering or perks. the only anemity it does have is cable television. the room and bathroom are small, but decently clean. tiny soap bars are provided. the best thing about this hotel would have to be it's central downtown location.
Good Hotel and Great value
We stayed two nights while sightseeing and attending two baseball games. All public transportation within 3-4 blocks, good restuarants close by, and good shopping in area. Hotel is older but very ciean and staff is very polite and hepfull. Parking garage is next door.
Outstanding Value
We have stayed at the Cass Hotel seven times over past six years. It is very clean and staff is friendly and responsive. Location in North Bridge area off Magnificent Mile, great restaurants, "L" stations and can't be beat for the price. Highly recommended.
Had a great month
exellent room rates; During my stay in dic. 2002 for the German Christkindlmarket I always were attended professional and friendly, housekeeping and mantainance are welltrained and help in any situation quickly. the only negativ point are the high telefoncosts even for internetconnection they are charging high prices. Nervertheless a very nice place to stay, I will be back this year for another month!
Good Deal, Good Location
I have stayed in this hotel twice, I was sorry to hear this hotel has no availability on my upcoming trip to Chircago. This is a plain simple hotel, but is close to alot of great attractions, restaurants and shopping. Beware, there were no washcloths at either of my visit, so if you need one to bathe, you might want to bring your own
Clean, Cheap, Great Location
This hotel is great - cheap (we found an amazing deal on their website during a very busy weekend) and were even upgraded to a king size bed which I had requested at no charge. On the small side, but the room was clean and adequate for our needs. Also the location is amazing - near everything and there is an El stop only a few blocks away.
Affordable, good location!
Rooms were very clean. Good atmosphere. Within walking distance of lots of attractions, restaurants, Navy Pier. Better than I expected!
Clean place
this is my second time stayin there and i love is and will be back soon. if your lookin for reasonable room rate well the cass hotel is the place.
Cheap, plain, good
Me, my Wife and 2 Children (ages 6 and 10) stayed here.
Very simple room, but fine for us. The room had 2 double
beds and wasn't big but was big enough considering we weren't doing anything but sleeping there. The location,
write in the middle of the madly developing "Miracle Mile"
district in Chicago, was great. Easy access to the El. Other guests seemed to be international youth backpakers,
international low budget businesspeople, and bargain hunter
couples.
The best places
I went to the cass hotel and,I like what i saw clean room good house keeping friendly people and the sea of happiness lounge is wonderful. I enjoin myself and i goin back soon.
