... Ale, an American PA, very autumn in nature. Their Amber was very nice, with a hint of caramel. I'd like to take these two beers to the porch on a crisp cool day. The Tiger Bite IPA was super hoppy, not my favorite characteristic, but lacked the bitterness I expect with IPAs. Not terrible. :)
The Porter tasted far less bitter than others I have encountered, with a chocolate finish that made me, almost, order a pint. The coffee porter was wonderful, very rich and smooth ...
... over 4,000 feet today the landscape was rolling and I think we will be having a lot more of that to come. The weather cooperated with a quartering tail wind and rode solo. It was neat traveling through the small towns and looking at the holiday decorations and at the second SAG today it looked like the entire town was out on the village lawn having a picinic!
Topeka, Kansas, United States bot989... Earhardt! Sherry and Joe then took us back to their lovely home to enjoy a relaxing evening barbecue - what a great break from the rigors of travel! It was neat for me to be able to meet them, as Greg has so many fond memories of them both! They are also RV'ers, with a beautiful new fifth wheel parked next to their home, so we're planning to meet up again somewhere down the road! I know we're both looking forward to it!
Perry, Kansas, United States pykesonthego... for things to see in this area which wasn't very much until you get to Kansas City. So here we are in another Motel 6 but without internet. Somehow someone or something flipped the switch off and the night clerk doesn't know how to reset it. So the blog and photos will be a little late. Sorry. Dang internet. Didn't Al Gore invent that thing anyway. Maybe they told him where the switch is.
Topeka, Kansas, United States ridewithjoeWe left Mount Vernon Illinois this morning and found the Old Route 66 Bridge going from Illinois to Missouri. As you can see Bill wasn't sure which way to go he was between states. We walked 3/4 of the way across and I took these pictures of the water flowing across the rocks which I guess this is where the name Chain of Rocks Bridge. The rest of the day was spent just driving from one city to another Kansas City Missouri then Kansas City Kansas. So far the ...
Topeka, Kansas, United States trekker2... tried to take pics of the sky and the bug, but my camera sucks at night pics and so it didn't work. Which sucks. Especially since my friend Charis just told me to take piccys of the night sky D: And while we were stopped, a cop came over and asked if we were having car trouble; it was cool, he had the flashy lights and everything. :DDad said we were just admiring the view. and he left. :D He was nice though... and he was OLDD. He had white hair. XDD Wow I'm ...
Topeka, Kansas, United States guzfamilyI left Colorado Springs today, heading east bound on I-70 to Topeka, Kansas. On my way out I took route 24 right by the Springs airport... Then I saw this huge wing of a plane literally jetting out from the side of a building so I detoured over to check it out. Turns out that there is a whole plane adjacent to a building, this is actually a restaurant named Solos. How many of you ...
Topeka, Kansas, United States haolegirl... Did I mention that Linda Vaughn (Miss Hurst Shifter) was in the GM Performance booth the past two days? Looks like she went home today. Right now there's a bunch of people sitting along the major roadway outside the hotel with a sign that says "smoke em if you got em" Dave's filming, but there's not too much to see - yet. Off to Lincoln, NE tomorrow, hoping the dry weather holds out for us. I've got some editing to do, Good Night! Amy
Topeka, Kansas, United States arspromoOK. Almost 10pm and our flight leaves in 13.5 hours and finally almost everything is done so I can start packing. There's always so much to do at work and at home to get ready to be gone for 2.5 weeks. But why should I complain?! We're going to Italy!
Topeka, Kansas, United States davidbeckWell, now that I have some down time I can update and share our pictures! We have had such a great time. We started out in Oregon at Crater Lake, the deepest lake in the US. Then made our way through the Redwood forest and then to San Fransisco. After San Fran we went to Yosemite NP and then Sequoia NP. The trees are unlike anything we have ever seen! The General Sherman tree is 32 ft in diameter and over 102 ft around!!! Then we traveled to ...
