Historical Traveler Reviews Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Edmonton at the Mall
We stayed here for 4 nights with our children aged 11 and 9. The hotel is exceptionally clean and tidy and in a great location for the West Edmonton Mall. The rooms were of a good size with 2 king size beds. Our children loved the pool - being very bright and clean.
The complimentary breakfast is great - plenty of choice to keep you going for all that shopping!
There are several restaurants within a few minutes drive and downtown Edmonton is an easy drive which only takes about 15 - 20 minutes.
This was the start of our Canadian tour - picking this hotel as a budget hotel before traveling through the Rockies, but it turned out to be better than several 'so called' luxury hotels we stayed in later.
An excellent hotel proving a great base for tourists!
This is an excellent hotel. No question about it. First of all, it is quite new, and everything was spotless clean. There were 7 of us (4 adults, and 3 kids), and we slept in a one bedroom suite which cost us U.S. $140. And that included free breakfast!! I didn't really care about breakfast, but to my surprise, it was quite nice when we went down in the morning. Coffee was excellent and they had quite a few pastries, fruites, and cereals. The staff was very very nice. Even the maids were smiling and courteous. During the night, our kids were thirsty, so I went out to buy some water. When I asked the counter clerk where I can buy some water, she gave me 4 free bottles of water and told me to get more if we needed more. We were so grateful. In the morning, we got another 4 bottles of water before we left the hotel. The location of the hotel is excellent, and there is ample parking space on ground.
OH, the hotel sells tickets to the Waterpark and Galaxyland for half price. I saved a lot of money by buying tickets at the hotel.
Hotel has a large swimming pool, but we didn't have time (or need) to use that facility. They also have free wireless internet throughout the building. If you don't have a laptop with you, then you can use the free business center for internet usage and also for printing. Excellent hotel in all aspects !!
We just returned from a 4 night stay at the Holiday Inn Express and we enjoyed ourselves. The hotel itself is quite new and is in excellent condition. The rooms were clean and roomy.
The free continental breakfast was a nice surprise. The hotel location was also a plus. We didn't have a car so we walked each day to the West Edmonton Mall. It was a short walk, maybe 15 minutes each way. There were also numerous restuarants right across the street. The area was safe, as the hotel is right in between to others.
For the rate they charge, its definitely excellent value and I'll stay there again when I return to Edmonton.
Really nice place......We stayed there after reading reviews here on tripadvisor.com
Very nice, modern and clean.
One down side was no restaraunt, we had to run over to a nearby Super store to have a picnic in our room. The kids loved it.
We will be back. Best bang for the buck in Edmonton.
Very Good as Usual !!!
I have stayed at a number of H.I.E. and they have all been very good. This Edmonton location is no different. Good service, good room, good breakfast, good pool, good location, and all for a good price. I would not hesitate to stay here again !!!
All in All it was pretty good.
I stayed at the Holiday inn - At the mall from Feb 17 - 20, 2005.
One of the Front Desk personell was very rude at the begining when we checked in, but she later phoned my room to personally apologize, which was cool. We were in a two Queen bedroom. Very Large. It was a smoking room but never smelled a hint of smoke. The elevator was not working the greatest but you can get up to your room, via the stairs faster.
They Have a Games room and Pool down the hall. The Game room consists of a Billards Table, Some Arcade and Pinball Machines and a Air Hockey Table. Downstairs they have a Fitness room and Internet access room.
The Pool was nice to relax in. a Nice wading pool which goes up to 5 feet deep and the Hot tub was fantastic.
The Breakfast in the morning was awesome. They have coffee, Orange and Apple Juice , very tasty warmed cinnamon buns, cereal, fruit , milk, hard boiled eggs and toast., It starts a 6:30 in the morning. get there early if you want to fill yourself up.
The shuttle from the airport is a 20$ round trip. considering that is pretty good, it takes about 45 minutes to get to the Airport to the hotel.
It is close to shopping Mayfield Common and Nice Restaurants are within walking distance. You can take a 15 minute bus ride to the West Edmonton Mall. There are some clubs close to the hotel such as Cowboys and Santanas on 180 Street but I would not advise you to go to them.
We also went accross the Street to the Days Inn they have a restaurant called Conyac's, very filling food, Resonable prices (most items under 10 bucks) nice atmosphere.
Checking out was nice too, they held our bags in storage until our shuttle came. so we can do some more exploring.
All in all it was a great experience. I would consider staying there again on my nextg visit to Edmonton.
Very nice, good price
My travel plans changed so I only called a few hours before my arrival. Although the hotel was very full I got a great rate.
Everything above the usual HIE standard. Efficient front desk, nice, spacious and clean room, great pool/hot tub/steam room area, enjoyable breakfast, convenient location.
I finally decided to write this review after staying at the hotel a number of times over several months. The service is always excellent, rooms nice and clean, and breakfast quite substanial. This is the only hotel I'll stay at in Edmonton, great value!
Terrific! Great experience!
We switched to this hotel after being disappointed with another one. Good move!
It's extremely conveninent in location, being only a few minutes away from the mall and near many restaurants, clubs, etc. The rooms were spacious, well-appointed and very clean. The continental breakfast was excellent: juices, bagels, hardboiled eggs, cereals, pastries, fruit and plenty of good coffee. The pool and spa were both generous in size and very clean. The pool towels were replenished regularly, and the chilled drinking water was very welcome. Great way to relax!
The staff were also extraordinarily helpful. They worked hard to fit us in without reservations, and even mailed some packages for us that we couldn't fit into our luggage for the flight home.
It was a genuinely restful, welcoming place to stay.
Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Edmonton
We drove into Edmonton with hopes to find a nice, clean hotel. We wanted to stay close to West Edmonton Mall, but the hotels were very expensive in that area. We found this hotel and were pleased with the rates, and were pleased that it was only a 2 minute drive from the mall. The hotel was very new and very clean. We had a great stay! The only complaint we had was that the hotel didn't have a restaurant, but that wouldn't stop us from staying there again. We had a very, very pleasant visit. If you are young and are looking for a fun night club, we went to a bar called Cowboys, which is only a 10 minute walk from the hotel.

... the need to have an answer to questions about what doing the Camino meant/will mean.
The one question I think worth answering is, "Was it a good experience?" And I do have an answer for that. "Si Si Si".
In Spanish, Camino literally means road or path ... and more figuratively it refers to a journey. Indeed this experience has been a very good journey.
... uncertain I could even get back on my original flight through security as I had a ticket issued from Sydney to Toronto..not vancouver to Toronto. A counter gal finally gave me pity and with a lot of clickety clacks of the keyboard...miraculously what was thought to not be possible...became possible and I had in me hand a biz class seat for 10 am to edmonton. I came to the back of the counter and gave her a biggggggg hug. Was a bit worried about security but ...

The Aussies all tried a "Mexican Bulldog" a lime margarita with a light corona beer bottle inserted upside down, as a non beer drinker - it wasn't too bad. Followed by a couple of margaritas and tequila shots :) and the gorilla chasing the banana, some fantastic outfits worn by the patrons. Great food and lots of fun.

I think you will agree I am lucky to have a woman of this strength and character as my wife, friend and teammate! I hope I pay her back appropriately the other 11 months of the year all of the hardships my enjoyment poses to her. I love you BabyGirl! That is all for now, I will advise you of the update, plus any new blogs in the not too distant future.Best regards,Lou Dechant
... up on the board at the first try. It looked so effortless that I decided I had to try it as well. So I jumped into the chilly water and listened to Max’s tips. You have to place your feet on the board in a certain position and then let the boat lift you up out of the water, but this was easier said than done. However, thanks to their patience and my snowboarding skills, it only took 3 attempts to get me standing on that wake board. It was awesome to fly over the waves while the ...
