Help! We're lost in the mall
Left Prince Albert National Park early morning and drove to Edmonton. Stopped in small town of Shellbrook for gas and breakfast. Again had an excellent meal and great service in what looked like nothing from the outside. People from Saskatchewan are very friendly. We checked in and then went off to the worlds largest, West Edmonton Mall. Had dinner …

Spent fun time with T & J's two sons. Ryan and Jess (partner) were staying at home. Ryan is a professional baseball player who plays in Oz and Europe. Ryan and Jess have applications in to emigrate to Oz. Robert (born in Oz) and Grace (partner) were busy with work but still managed to spend time with us.

Chasing the Puck
Howdy folks,
Well it was time for us to escape Banff again in search of some action! On Tuesday I had 6 hours sleep after work then Neil, Steffie and I drove down to Calgary and checked into the Econolodge Motel where we stayed when we saw the Foo Fighters concert. We headed downtown early to have a few pre-game drinks at the casino, but ended up just drinking at the Saddledome stadium. This time we had tickets in ...

Historical Traveler Reviews Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Edmonton at the Mall
Fantastic value....
We stayed here for 4 nights with our children aged 11 and 9. The hotel is exceptionally clean and tidy and in a great location for the West Edmonton Mall. The rooms were of a good size with 2 king size beds. Our children loved the pool - being very bright and clean.
The complimentary breakfast is great - plenty of choice to keep you going for all that shopping!
There are several restaurants within a few minutes drive and downtown Edmonton is an easy drive which only takes about 15 - 20 minutes.
This was the start of our Canadian tour - picking this hotel as a budget hotel before traveling through the Rockies, but it turned out to be better than several 'so called' luxury hotels we stayed in later.
An excellent hotel proving a great base for tourists!
Best bet
This is an excellent hotel. No question about it. First of all, it is quite new, and everything was spotless clean. There were 7 of us (4 adults, and 3 kids), and we slept in a one bedroom suite which cost us U.S. $140. And that included free breakfast!! I didn't really care about breakfast, but to my surprise, it was quite nice when we went down in the morning. Coffee was excellent and they had quite a few pastries, fruites, and cereals. The staff was very very nice. Even the maids were smiling and courteous. During the night, our kids were thirsty, so I went out to buy some water. When I asked the counter clerk where I can buy some water, she gave me 4 free bottles of water and told me to get more if we needed more. We were so grateful. In the morning, we got another 4 bottles of water before we left the hotel. The location of the hotel is excellent, and there is ample parking space on ground.
OH, the hotel sells tickets to the Waterpark and Galaxyland for half price. I saved a lot of money by buying tickets at the hotel.
Hotel has a large swimming pool, but we didn't have time (or need) to use that facility. They also have free wireless internet throughout the building. If you don't have a laptop with you, then you can use the free business center for internet usage and also for printing. Excellent hotel in all aspects !!
Great!!
We just returned from a 4 night stay at the Holiday Inn Express and we enjoyed ourselves. The hotel itself is quite new and is in excellent condition. The rooms were clean and roomy.
The free continental breakfast was a nice surprise. The hotel location was also a plus. We didn't have a car so we walked each day to the West Edmonton Mall. It was a short walk, maybe 15 minutes each way. There were also numerous restuarants right across the street. The area was safe, as the hotel is right in between to others.
For the rate they charge, its definitely excellent value and I'll stay there again when I return to Edmonton.
Very Nice
Wow!!
Really nice place......We stayed there after reading reviews here on tripadvisor.com
Very nice, modern and clean.
Nice pool.
One down side was no restaraunt, we had to run over to a nearby Super store to have a picnic in our room. The kids loved it.
We will be back. Best bang for the buck in Edmonton.
Very Good as Usual !!!
I have stayed at a number of H.I.E. and they have all been very good. This Edmonton location is no different. Good service, good room, good breakfast, good pool, good location, and all for a good price. I would not hesitate to stay here again !!!
All in All it was pretty good.
I stayed at the Holiday inn - At the mall from Feb 17 - 20, 2005.
One of the Front Desk personell was very rude at the begining when we checked in, but she later phoned my room to personally apologize, which was cool. We were in a two Queen bedroom. Very Large. It was a smoking room but never smelled a hint of smoke. The elevator was not working the greatest but you can get up to your room, via the stairs faster.
They Have a Games room and Pool down the hall. The Game room consists of a Billards Table, Some Arcade and Pinball Machines and a Air Hockey Table. Downstairs they have a Fitness room and Internet access room.
The Pool was nice to relax in. a Nice wading pool which goes up to 5 feet deep and the Hot tub was fantastic.
The Breakfast in the morning was awesome. They have coffee, Orange and Apple Juice , very tasty warmed cinnamon buns, cereal, fruit , milk, hard boiled eggs and toast., It starts a 6:30 in the morning. get there early if you want to fill yourself up.
The shuttle from the airport is a 20$ round trip. considering that is pretty good, it takes about 45 minutes to get to the Airport to the hotel.
It is close to shopping Mayfield Common and Nice Restaurants are within walking distance. You can take a 15 minute bus ride to the West Edmonton Mall. There are some clubs close to the hotel such as Cowboys and Santanas on 180 Street but I would not advise you to go to them.
We also went accross the Street to the Days Inn they have a restaurant called Conyac's, very filling food, Resonable prices (most items under 10 bucks) nice atmosphere.
Checking out was nice too, they held our bags in storage until our shuttle came. so we can do some more exploring.
All in all it was a great experience. I would consider staying there again on my nextg visit to Edmonton.
Very nice, good price
My travel plans changed so I only called a few hours before my arrival. Although the hotel was very full I got a great rate.
Everything above the usual HIE standard. Efficient front desk, nice, spacious and clean room, great pool/hot tub/steam room area, enjoyable breakfast, convenient location.
Always Excellent
I finally decided to write this review after staying at the hotel a number of times over several months. The service is always excellent, rooms nice and clean, and breakfast quite substanial. This is the only hotel I'll stay at in Edmonton, great value!
Terrific! Great experience!
We switched to this hotel after being disappointed with another one. Good move!
It's extremely conveninent in location, being only a few minutes away from the mall and near many restaurants, clubs, etc. The rooms were spacious, well-appointed and very clean. The continental breakfast was excellent: juices, bagels, hardboiled eggs, cereals, pastries, fruit and plenty of good coffee. The pool and spa were both generous in size and very clean. The pool towels were replenished regularly, and the chilled drinking water was very welcome. Great way to relax!
The staff were also extraordinarily helpful. They worked hard to fit us in without reservations, and even mailed some packages for us that we couldn't fit into our luggage for the flight home.
It was a genuinely restful, welcoming place to stay.
Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Edmonton
We drove into Edmonton with hopes to find a nice, clean hotel. We wanted to stay close to West Edmonton Mall, but the hotels were very expensive in that area. We found this hotel and were pleased with the rates, and were pleased that it was only a 2 minute drive from the mall. The hotel was very new and very clean. We had a great stay! The only complaint we had was that the hotel didn't have a restaurant, but that wouldn't stop us from staying there again. We had a very, very pleasant visit. If you are young and are looking for a fun night club, we went to a bar called Cowboys, which is only a 10 minute walk from the hotel.
