Left Prince Albert National Park early morning and drove to Edmonton. Stopped in small town of Shellbrook for gas and breakfast. Again had an excellent meal and great service in what looked like nothing from the outside. People from Saskatchewan are very friendly. We checked in and then went off to the worlds largest, West Edmonton Mall. Had dinner …
The first time I traveled alone was to Costa Rica at age 20. I experienced two 'major', or what seemed so at the time, obstacles: 1. The airline sent my luggage to Mexico and I was possessionless for a week while being stranded in a rural community with little access to the things I needed to get by. 2. My host family only spoke Spanish, except for their young grandson who was occasionally able to act as translator in his ...
... Drove downtown to take pictures and basically look around. Easy drive in from where I am camped. City Centre is on the north side of the river. Actually city seems to be built on the two sides of the river. Visited the Muttart Conservatory. Consisted of four huge all glass pyramids in effect gigantic greenhouses to maintain fauna from around the world. Each pyramid houses a different climate. Very nicely done – if you are into plants you should see ...
I love spending time with my husband and we are rarely out of contact. I knew saying goodbye for a month wouldn't be awesome by any means, but I was still extremely surprised when I found myself crying as I gave him "just one more" hug after "just one more" hug. Leaving him on the street waving goodbye to the bus, knowing that I wouldn't see him for almost 30 days with a 10 hour time difference between us was one of the hardest ...
We landed back home in Edmonton, Canada afer over 8 months in South America. Dave Fricke picked us up from the airport and took us back to the Fricke's house. No one else knew we were coming home and Dave had arranged for the Charuk family and the Fricke family to meet that night to plan a surprise party for me and Kel when we were supposedly arriving home two weeks later. So Dave hid with the camera and we surprised our family members one by one as they arrived for the meeting. ...

Historical Traveler Reviews Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Edmonton at the Mall
We stayed here for 4 nights with our children aged 11 and 9. The hotel is exceptionally clean and tidy and in a great location for the West Edmonton Mall. The rooms were of a good size with 2 king size beds. Our children loved the pool - being very bright and clean.
The complimentary breakfast is great - plenty of choice to keep you going for all that shopping!
There are several restaurants within a few minutes drive and downtown Edmonton is an easy drive which only takes about 15 - 20 minutes.
This was the start of our Canadian tour - picking this hotel as a budget hotel before traveling through the Rockies, but it turned out to be better than several 'so called' luxury hotels we stayed in later.
An excellent hotel proving a great base for tourists!
This is an excellent hotel. No question about it. First of all, it is quite new, and everything was spotless clean. There were 7 of us (4 adults, and 3 kids), and we slept in a one bedroom suite which cost us U.S. $140. And that included free breakfast!! I didn't really care about breakfast, but to my surprise, it was quite nice when we went down in the morning. Coffee was excellent and they had quite a few pastries, fruites, and cereals. The staff was very very nice. Even the maids were smiling and courteous. During the night, our kids were thirsty, so I went out to buy some water. When I asked the counter clerk where I can buy some water, she gave me 4 free bottles of water and told me to get more if we needed more. We were so grateful. In the morning, we got another 4 bottles of water before we left the hotel. The location of the hotel is excellent, and there is ample parking space on ground.
We just returned from a 4 night stay at the Holiday Inn Express and we enjoyed ourselves. The hotel itself is quite new and is in excellent condition. The rooms were clean and roomy.
The free continental breakfast was a nice surprise. The hotel location was also a plus. We didn't have a car so we walked each day to the West Edmonton Mall. It was a short walk, maybe 15 minutes each way. There were also numerous restuarants right across the street. The area was safe, as the hotel is right in between to others.
For the rate they charge, its definitely excellent value and I'll stay there again when I return to Edmonton.
Really nice place......We stayed there after reading reviews here on tripadvisor.com
Very nice, modern and clean.
One down side was no restaraunt, we had to run over to a nearby Super store to have a picnic in our room. The kids loved it.
We will be back. Best bang for the buck in Edmonton.
Very Good as Usual !!!
I have stayed at a number of H.I.E. and they have all been very good. This Edmonton location is no different. Good service, good room, good breakfast, good pool, good location, and all for a good price. I would not hesitate to stay here again !!!
I stayed at the Holiday inn - At the mall from Feb 17 - 20, 2005.
Very nice, good price
My travel plans changed so I only called a few hours before my arrival. Although the hotel was very full I got a great rate.
Everything above the usual HIE standard. Efficient front desk, nice, spacious and clean room, great pool/hot tub/steam room area, enjoyable breakfast, convenient location.
I finally decided to write this review after staying at the hotel a number of times over several months. The service is always excellent, rooms nice and clean, and breakfast quite substanial. This is the only hotel I'll stay at in Edmonton, great value!
We switched to this hotel after being disappointed with another one. Good move!
Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Edmonton
We drove into Edmonton with hopes to find a nice, clean hotel. We wanted to stay close to West Edmonton Mall, but the hotels were very expensive in that area. We found this hotel and were pleased with the rates, and were pleased that it was only a 2 minute drive from the mall. The hotel was very new and very clean. We had a great stay! The only complaint we had was that the hotel didn't have a restaurant, but that wouldn't stop us from staying there again. We had a very, very pleasant visit. If you are young and are looking for a fun night club, we went to a bar called Cowboys, which is only a 10 minute walk from the hotel.
