Day 1 - June 29, 2008 My journey started in Tally-ho when I left for my 9:05 AM flight at 8:10 AM, woops! I pulled into the 2-terminal airport at 8:35AM and they checked me in, no lines, no waiting - I must say, this is the first and probably only time that I can say that I LOVED Tallahassee! So I made it just in time for boarding and I got on the flight and flew down to MIA! After an 8 hour layover, I finally boarded AA Flight 68 for España! Boarded the flight...we were asked to de-board...f...
Alcobendas, Madrid, Spain and Canary Islands dizzybg924I landed in Madrid this morning bright and early at about 7:00 a.m., nearly 45 min. early. The flight wasn't too bad, although I didn't get as much sleep as I had hoped! Immigration in Madrid was very easy and only took about 20 minutes. I successfully met up with another student who is participating in the W&M program, Kelli; we've made travel plans together and have quickly become great travel partners. After meeting up with Kelli we traveled by taxi to our hotel and attempted to find s...

... with a cool vibe. Not many people spoke English, which I actually found refreshing. I am finding that my bits of spanish get me a long way. I am glad I paid attention in high school spanish. I have decided that when I come back I want to start Spanish classes, I think it would do nothing but benifit me. You know I cant stay away from school for that long!
Granada is next on the tour!
Ciao for now!

... all a bit surreal and fast. We even got off on the right stop at the hotel. Dan has started to feel nauseated and still having tummy troubles, so he's curled up miserably on the bed, the poor dear. I am about to medicate him to the eyeballs and hope he gets better soon. He's basically been unwell since we left in some way, shape or form.
A complete day of driving from Madrid to Barcelona tomorrow, can't say I've loved Madrid, more than happy to move on to Barcelona!
... because the people sitting with us were so nice! We ended up in the same cabin as this older woman from Toledo who was very nice and very talkative (we got to brush up on our spanish, which was hard after speaking Italian for so long), and also in our cabin was a nice young guy from Wales, and 2 other Spanish women who were very friendly. This put us at ease, and we had a nice ride. The ...
Madrid, Madrid, Spain clione... and friends again, and I had got quite used to the idea, looking forward to al of this of course. What I had not given a single thought to, is the fact that this trip is coming to an end. I started to face this issue, and it is not easy business, especially with a half round-the-world ticket still in my pocket. Working ******* getting used to the three letters E, N and D. The three dots that naturally follow them are quite helpful...
Alcala, Spain peacefrog... as opposed to the other fake parts. Seriously, some chunks of Madrid could be any European city or even parts of NYC or Boston, but Toledo was ALL Spain. For your viewing pleasure I have included some pictures. It was awesome, you'll have to go one day and that's all I got to say about that. ? (If you go, don't be stoned).
I ruv you all. I uploaded a ton of pics on shutterfly. share.shutterfly.com/action/welcome?sid =0IYtHDZw0Bmxfq share.shutterfly.com/action/welcome?sid =0IYtHDZw0bMXJg
We woke up the next morning and ate a big breakfast at our hostel because it was free. The food was nothing special, but we really didn't want to spend our money on food so we filled up. To preface the rest of my trip to Madrid, I really just wanted to get away from home and relax. I spent a decent amount of time in Madrid when I came to Spain in 2004, and I have shopped and been to all of the monuments, palaces and museums, so I really didn't want to re-visit everything ...
Madrid, Spain jenkanz... that's why you will always find Guaraná in my place. And Pony Malta (pretty much the national beverage in Colombia)." "I went to Brazil as well. I loved the country almost as much as the beautiful women and the Guaraná. I even went to Boa Vista on my way to and from Venezuela. Great little town by the way." "Boa Vista??? Mentiroso, mentiroso, de estómago fogoso (liar, liar, your stomach's on fire)." I had a great chat with this friendly ...
Madrid, Spain stevefn... Market - La Reganza. I´ll write more later about that experience. I just wanted to upload some more photos before we leave tonight. I hope the pictures show the festive atmosphere here in Madrid. Oh just so you know, there´s 9 hours difference between the west coast and Spain, you probably already figured that out.
