Day 1 - June 29, 2008 My journey started in Tally-ho when I left for my 9:05 AM flight at 8:10 AM, woops! I pulled into the 2-terminal airport at 8:35AM and they checked me in, no lines, no waiting - I must say, this is the first and probably only time that I can say that I LOVED Tallahassee! So I made it just in time for boarding and I got on the flight and flew down to MIA! After an 8 hour layover, I finally boarded AA Flight 68 for España! Boarded the flight...we were asked to de-board...f...
Alcobendas, Madrid, Spain and Canary Islands dizzybg924I landed in Madrid this morning bright and early at about 7:00 a.m., nearly 45 min. early. The flight wasn't too bad, although I didn't get as much sleep as I had hoped! Immigration in Madrid was very easy and only took about 20 minutes. I successfully met up with another student who is participating in the W&M program, Kelli; we've made travel plans together and have quickly become great travel partners. After meeting up with Kelli we traveled by taxi to our hotel and attempted to find s...

... my gate and get my boarding pass. That wouldn't have been a big deal had I known I had loads of time to spare. I didn't.

The icing on the Frankfurt cake was definitely, however, figuring out that I had lost my baggage tickets; and being told that if I couldn't find them; I would have to go pick up my luggage and check it again...and find a later flight. After much pleading with the attendant (and a frantic midnight call home)...my bags were finally tracked ...
Madrid, Madrid, Spain and Canary Islands emizner... They are quick and to the point and will call you out if you make a not so smart comment. The metro is better organized than the Paris metro, or maybe its that I can read the signs now. I just got back from the meeting and caught the special talk in my own language. Toledo and Segovia are great little historic towns with some nices stuff as you will see in the pics. Something you wont see is me at the knife shops in Toledo. There are about ...
Madrid, Madrid, Spain and Canary Islands pongpingjlI am not sure where I last left off, but it has been an eventful couple of weeks. I'm sorry I couldn't get to you all sooner, but these internet connections are shotty We loved Madrid as you know and Barcelona was just beautiful. Jess and I rode bikes and coasted all thru the town. We saw a bunch of the Gaudi's famous work and had lunch at the port. The night life was fun as well although we only went out one night since ...
Madrid, Madrid, Spain and Canary Islands caleen00... heard like galloping and screaming and then I saw an empty horse with a jacket hanging off it. We could hear her crying and howling and all the other horses stopped. Apparently the horse was going down a steep area and got like off-balance from the rocks and her saddle wasn´t on tight enough. She said she landed on her back. She was actually able to get up and walk a few minutes later (which probably wasn´t a good idea ...
Madrid, Spain cait113... that our train left at 10:20pm, we took our time walking around the square and stopped to listen to live street music and hop on the Internet as well. We ended up getting onto the Metro at around 9:10pm, to head to Atocha station (where we had left our bags for the day), then transfer to Chamartin, the station from which our overnight train was to leave.Keep in mind that these stations are massive and we only vaguely knew where we were going. Directions from ...
Madrid, Spain jessicae... his hand until the metro stopped, he looked scared, and I probably looked pretty scary - people kinda took notice - and as the doors open I let go of his hand and he darted off the metro. Overall, Madrid is a really nice place, some incredible buildings and parks. Went on a tour of the Real Madrid stadium, and got to go on the pitch and through the players tunnel! It was a pretty classy place, and pretty clean for a ...
Madrid, Spain big_papiAs mentioned I had been to Madrid for a few days before I went to Seville. Because I´d been to Madrid before a few years ago I didnt have to do anything so once again I just wondered around while Tanya was at work. When I got back to Madrid after London and Amsterdam I fortunately didn´t have anything touristy to do, and believe me I did very little. I experienced Madrid how I imagine it would be to live there (minus the 13 hour work day that seems to be standard ...
