Gettin' to the Airport on Time

So, I'm off on my Paris/Italy adventure. My brother and sister-in-law had their flights postponed by the airline for 24 hrs......so I'll spend tomorrow on my own in Paris. I've scheduled a photography "class" for the afternoon so I'll get that out of the way before my family arrives on Saturday.

I awoke this morning at 5am with the intention of making it to the airport by 5:30 for a 6:30 ...

Wrong turn.... Right turn...

As I drove toward Albuquerque, I had the memory of Bugs Bunny. This is where he would have always taken a wrong turn... in Albuquerque.
The "truth is stranger then fiction" part of this entry begins with my car's engine light coming on. If you've payed attention, this issue came up back in July; when I was entering Canada and took my car to a service place in Quebec city. The issue was never resolved and I knew ...

Hot Air

... Maribeth decided we’d had enough outdoor hiking for the day. Rather, it was time for a massive plate of food. Fortunately, in America, these are somewhat easy to come by. We ate at a local favorite—Sadie’s—and the portion sizes left us astounded. Joe’s cheesy, beefy, beany potato platter was, in the words of Maribeth, “up to my chin.” Time to get our bloated bellies out of town.

On the road again

Leaving the winter home, Sharon came for a week vacation and to drive with me back to Madison. We drove to Bosque Del Apache via a few missions. Spent the night at the RV park for the birds and got up really early to see the birds fly ...

Albuquerque, VLA, mountains and balloons

... New Mexican restaurant in Old Town. The next day, we went on North on a scenic drive through the Jemez Mountains which climb to about 3000m. We stopped here and there to admire the views and then to take a short "hike" to a waterfall. The fresh scent of pine was everywhere and all the way in the distance we could catch a glimpse of the Sangre de Cristo mountains which were even higher, up to 4000m and already/still (?) had a small sprinkling ...

24 hours for extremes

I was in Times square in NY taking photos about the crowd crossing the street then i went straight to the airport, get a flight to Albuquerque, there, i picked up a rental car and drove 8 hours to Monument Valley in Arizona, so, exactly 24 hours after time square i was standing in a desert, with for only company a lost dog...actually i appreciated the difference.

Taking stock...one year on

You may wonder what happens in between blogs; since the last one- 15th November, no we weren't abducted by aliens, we've just been pottering really. Living on the road as we are, there are still what we call 'housekeeping' chores to do; not to mention trying to keep up with these here blogs so y'all know what we're up to! Things like the washing, but NO ironing I hasten to ...

HAPPY EASTER FROM ALBUQUERQUE!

... the first time. Keegan and Collin gave their kid's church a thumbs up and REALLY liked it! After church, the boys and I stopped by Cracker Barrel and then on to The Albequerque Museum in Old Town. We saw lots of unique wool rugs, pottery, paintings, and learned about life in Albequerque over the last 300 years. The boys favorite part was weaving small rugs with yarn and a needle(see pic ...

Albuquerque by Bus

So first I went and visited my friend Shannon in Albuquerque, who I'd met the year before on the way to Guatemala. This was back in the days, back at the age, when such was the norm, making friends on the road. I’m not sure which was more important, but the best part was that it extended to locals, usually smoking herb, so it must have been ...
