... the community was grateful. When we walked into the joint we felt like a posse accompanying a celebrity. Big hugs and "thank yous" and “anything for yous” swirled around Jon. It was lovely, and the big heart and character of the restaurant’s owners and its customers came out. I also have to mention that the average price of a menu item is three dollars so we ate like kings, ordering eggs, French toast, hash browns with cheddar cheese and peppers, ...

Today I was supposed to leave on my adventure to Rome, Italy for a semester of study abroad. Packed and ready to go, I got the dreaded news early this morning that Winter Storm Ion has delayed my travels until tomorrow. I will fly to Philadelphia in the afternoon, followed by an overnight flight to Rome. I will be leaving behind the -50 degree windchill of Chicago and waking up in Rome on Wednesday morning to 60 degree temperatures and sunshine.
