We're the Kids in Canay-di-ah - Woh-hoh

It's hard not to love Canada don't you think? As a nation, they don't really offend anyone. They don't invade anything or ruin anything. They have a lovely country, full of snow and (supposedly...) moose. They're not a world super-power, even though they have to live next door to one. For all of our combined years, we have to admit that before visiting we didn't really know much about Canada either ...

I had every good intention of heading back to the lookout to check out the views by night, but by the time the bus was halfway to the city I realised there was no way I was going to make it before the 9pm close, and so its another reasonably early night for me. Just watched the final episode of ER ever. Haven't seen the show in years, so it was odd. But there's nothing wrong with a bit of oddity here and there.

... that I'd done with my family when I was a pup!! I was surprised to find so many homeless people begging and lying about on every street corner and in every bus and train station. But, I loved strolling in the sunshine, feasting on the world famous clam chowder in a sourdough roll, sourcing the best burritos down in the Mission , and playing tourist on the cable cars up to Lombard Street . I did a tour of Alcatraz , and ...

... we never imagined we would get to do in our lives. I don't want to build it up too much though, b/c it might seem lame to you. But anyway, yesterday was another great day. It started off rainy, but the rain blew through around 2:00 and we had a great time. We started out by heading to the Tourism Vancouver office to pick up our TransLink day passes and discount tickets for the Vancouver Museum. We knew we'd be using the ...

... at the border at about 10 am. We didn't have to wait very long at all to cross and so before we knew it we were back into Canada. We thought about taking the kids ice skating again but the rink was busy with holiday program activities. The pool was very busy too and so we gave up and drove round to Craig and Suzanne's. Their boys William and Sam were ...

... and exotic animal habitat. We saw the sea lions, otters and a beluga whale with her one-month-old calf...so adorable! They have a lot of presentations by staff at the different exhibits. We listened to the one on the beluga whales, one on sharks and the dolphin show. There were five dolphins who did lots of tricks, and the narrator was very good. After taking the trolley back to the hotel, we drove over Lionsgate Bridge to North ...

... and paper home to scrapbook. Later was a port talk on Ketchikan which either was a very short talk or we were really late! lol I think we were late. Tea Time was next in the Bordeaux room. We sat with a woman from Florida and a couple from Queenstown as we ate peanut butter cookies, sweets and of course tea! The 1st formal night was this night which for me was black pants and a dressy top. The seafood crab/lobster quiche was delicious along with the lobster bisque, bow ...

Return to Canada

... shock. To be expected, but always a disturbing surprise. We expect it will easy as the days go by and we gain our northern legs. It is so true - as one door closes another opens - we are very enthusiastic, excited and ready to get on with giving the children's village the wings to take off and fly. Our time in Guatemala may be over for now, but our commitment, dedication, and vision for the project is just beginning.

The reward waiting at the top consisted of breathtaking views of the city and surrounding ocean, and also provided cold beer at the mountaintop restaurant. We arrived at the ...

... for a little boat ride along the Fraser River and around to Granville Island on a 34? foot sail boat with my Dad (to help out one of his clients). So all in all it was a really fun and relaxing week, which is nice, considering I'll be spending the next three months in a tent. Well I hope everyone that reads them, are enjoying these blogs. I'll be writing again next time I'm in town. Apparently we work four days on, one off, so it shouldn't be too long. 'Till next time.
