Driving into Canada

... Canada Day, like our 4th of July and people are off work. The poutines are very good and very, very rich, but your doctor would tell you to only eat them once a year:))
Now it brings me to the cost of FUEL!! Diesel fuel cost today at the cheapest place in town, $5.10 per gallon. YIKES!! I had forgot how much I had paid per gallon in 2011. Oh well you can't let the price of fuel keep you ...

... mazda 3 to a car wash. After all, the "fly" was quite dirty from our drive to Fiona's camp.

Once the car was rinsed off a bit, we headed back to the hotel to see Frederick. We asked if Frederick was hungry (but he said he was not). After all, Joanne had packed him a lunch with plenty of food to last him the whole day and beyond....

For the rest of the night, we spent time with Frederick talking and watching tv.

We left St. Ignace and headed for Sault St. Marie on US side to take a boat tour of the Soo Locks at 10 am. Gorgeous hot day and no wind, the Great Lakes were calm as one would expect a lake to be. Thoroughly enjoyed 2 hour boat tour of the 4 US commercial locks and we returned on the Canadian side through the pleasure yacht lock. There is 21 feet difference from Lake Superior and Lake Huron. We drove over International bridge to Sault St. Marie Ontario, customs ...

Well the drive home from Ottawa went very smoothly. The weather cooperated and the traffic was not too bad. With a stop for ice cream in Deep River, another viewing of Frozen and many games of "On the Bus" we arrived home just over three hours later. Ruby slept from Deep River home. Jessica wanted to.

Auntie Katie, Foster and Uncle Chris were just behind us about an hour. They went to see Barbara and Steve at their house ...

We stayed two nights in North Bay and with the points we had were able to stay here the second night for money plus points. It is a nice comfortable hotel though the beds are too hard for us. We did a load of laundry which cost $6 incl. soap and they had a nice facility for that. The shower was OK and the room clean. The staff was very friendly and helpful in finding places to go see and to eat at.
