Today we drove back to Rankin County, Mississippi, for the final search of our trip. After a trip to the library, which has a vast genealogical section and a very helpful librarian- we realized that this is a place where we could easily spend a week! Started our road trip today. We drove out of Dallas towards Jackson, Mississippi stopping along the way for lunch at Catfish Village that serves tradition southern food. We had more than our fill of deep fried EVERYTHING.
We arrived in Jackson and enjoyed a quick self guided tour around the city. We did accidentally find ourselves in the dodgier part of town. Thank goodness for our trusty nav man. ...
I have absolutely NOTHING to say. Today was a boring day of driving. We decided to forgo Beale Street and Graceland as really bad weather was predicted for Memphis and after seeing news this evening it was a good choice. We are now south of Jackson MS other than that I have not a clue where we are. The computer filled in the location above. Working our way home. See you soon..........

The next leg of our journey today after a quick visit to Jackson. I have to say, I'm glad it was only a quick visit. The hotel, situated just outside of Jackson, was not really one of the best we've stayed at, not uncomfortable, but none the less, not great. But the reason for our restless sleep was not really the small beds. We went out for tea last night, only to hear what can only ...
... she was raised, cleaned and preserved. In 1977, she was placed in a special pavilion in the Vicksburg park, alongside a museum that had preserved personal items from the crew (none of whom died, but they had to leave everything behind) and tools and equipment from the ship. It was a very interesting display, and the signs describing what you could see were very informative.
