The airfield is quite short, for us, and we made sure the EZ was as light as possible for the arrival and subsequent departure. Taxiing in before 0900hrs we had expected to be the first to show up, but on roll-out we could see one Long-EZ was already parked up on the small apron. Mostly a travel day today ending in Owensboro, KY Lots of time in the car but with good company.... And an onboard DVD player the drive was a pleasant one. Tomorrow we get deeper into the South and our days get busier for awhile. ... The city won't allow alcohol in public spaces, so the beer garden was across the street from the festival, rather than in the park where they could have made a killing. This is probably why this town remains so cute...they lack just enough capitalistic thinkers to keep it quaint.

We left Malone State Park, regretfully since it was ideal, but headed for Mammoth Cave National Park, even though we had to backtrack East. Man, the Kentucky roads are stinkin' NARROW, no shoulder, and are often slopped the wrong way, so it scares the heck out of you on occasion. Passing a truck or wide vehicle is a nail biter.
